looks like delcowizzid has you sorted, but to do it yourself you would have downloaded the bin, downloaded the matching xdf, downloaded tunerpro 5 from tunerpro.net (currently in the beta section), then opened the bin and xdf, found the 'disable VATS' (vehicle anti-theft system) flag, checked the flag, and saved the changes. Then that gives you the file posted above.

Hey Delcowizzid thank you. And Antus, thanks also, Im going to download tunerpro and have a look. There is obviously a lot to learn, and im sure that i will never learn most of it, but looks very interesting so far. Im guessing that you can re calibrate shift points and the like.. Sounds like fun.

Sounds like fun don't those sierras blow over in a strong wind lol.
I rolled one 3 1/2 times in reverse once trying to swing it around and take off again. :driving:

Haha, yes this one will blow over for sure... its a long story but it started off as a joke... the car was bound for the tip. one thing led ot another and i had an old VP wagon in the back yard, and joked to my dad that we should put the engine in the sierra. Then somehow i found myself pulling out engines... all of a sudden i was having runs with SS's and XRs at the lights... It was so funny. Then, along came this L67, and I just couldnt resist. in it went.

But back to my ecu issue.

Delcowizzid, I burnt that file you posted in to the prom, but for some reason it still wont fire. Im not sure, as again, Im very new to this, but I loaded that BIN into tunerpro and when i go the field which relates to VATS, there is a tick in the box. Is that the way it should be? Or am i missing something?

Correct bit has been changed, $51 to $AA to disable checksum but looks like it tried autocalculationg a checksum and put it at $0006/7.
Try this one and see if you have any luck.

Ok thank you,

I will burn it as soon as i can get back to my programmer.... its at the office.

Just some other silly questions about VATS and how it behaves. As it stands, if I crank the engine, I get spark, but no ground pulse for the injectors, is that what you would expect from VATS being enabled? If i manually tap an injector wire to GND while cranking, the engine tries to fire up, so this is definately whats stopping things. Just wondering if thats how the engine is disabled, by not firing the injectors?

Yoda,
Also, can I ask how you are editing this BIN? Should I be able to open it in tunerpro by using the supercharged v6 xdf? as when i try, it is still showing that VATS is ticked. Im obviously not using the right software?

Yes, thats exactly waht vats does - stops the injectors firing. also bear in mind that the Ignition module, if powered will spark regardless of whether or not the ecu is even plugged in. the spark is completely independent of the ecu at crank time. only once the engine is actually running does the ign module hand over control to the ecu.

my point is, your symptoms of spark but no injector is exactly what it would do if vats is enabled, or if you have a dodgy memcal, or if the ecu is not powered, or if the ecu is rooted, or if the ecu is not powered up at all.

Yes, load in Tunerpro and use xdf.
Yes, a tick disables it.

If you load bin and xdf, then load a comapre bin file of the standard BTBP and run compare.
Have a play around with Tunerpro, it really is good, especially once you understand it's capabilities.

What ECU are you running?
