Re: The VN Great Escape
if a dodgy thermostat is the most of your issues you've gotta be happy with that!
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: The VN Great Escape
So far so good the engine seem to be running fine just chewing the juice hoping changing the prgram to a VR should help the cause
The Fund raising has began if anyone want to throw some money in here is link. None of this money goes toward the car or my entery fees the money is transfered directly to Cystic Fibrosis Australia

Re: The VN Great Escape
Ok been a while so quick update.
Was hoping to paint the car between Christams and New years but the rain has put a damper on that
So instead i rebuild the LSD wasn't as hard as i expected the cone were a neat fit didn't reqire shim in the end actually had to machine the cone down. Diff is nice and tight can get the diff to slip with a crowbar on each axle and pull as hard as I can. At least i was able to get somthing down.
At the stage look to have my first big sponsor looking around the $1000 mark once comfirmed I'll most who.
Fitted the trip meter and Manual cal to suit the speed sensor. Speed and distance vary greatly to the speedo but match GPS. Didin't realise how much the speedo in these car "stick" the hysteresis error is huge.
Fuel comsuption is still iffy at the stage I'm getting roughtly 12L/100km I really need to get a liitle better then this for the rally hope a fine tune can help.

what sort of driving are you doing for testing fuel consumption ?

Re: The VN Great Escape
Mixture of Highway trip roughtly 20km each direction and city to and from work. There would be more city then highway.
Mind you the route to work is mostly 80km/h zone with a few roundabouts no traffic lights.
Not sure what most people are getting but from what i read average city is 11-12L/100km and highway 8-9L-100km so i was expecting 9-11L/100km more so the 12. Mind you both engine I've had in this car have run about the same consumption so looking at thing that weren't changed. like fuel filter/pump, Air filter, Throttle body, and O2 sensor.

Re: The VN Great Escape
well alot of that trip the tcc probably isn't locked up so that will probably hurt economy alot....
need to try a trip at 90-100kms that should sort out the TCC and might yeild some better economy.

Here are some photos taken today. Finally some sunny day allowed to me to start the paint preping. you get see in the photos the start of the make shift spray booth just have to roll the plastic out for the floor and tape some plastic on the side.
Can also see some of the bog working ready to go.
Forgot to mention before car is running on E10 fuel so looking at the figure again maybe not so bad.
