Re: VN Commodore ECU update
These BLMs that holden202 talks about refer to a table the ecu keeps in ram that is like modifications to the main VE table normally in rom. When the ecu is disconnected it looses this data and goes back to the VE table exactly as is. This BLM feature allows the car to 'learn' as bits of it gradually degrade and the tables need modification. For this to work properly and for the data you collect yourself to be accurate you'll need a good working O2 sensor. I hear they are good for about 100,000kms only, but Ive not heard of anyone having too much trouble because of this, can any one confirm how to tell if the sensor is good? When I started with my car I bought a brand new one so I could trust it.

more on diag rpm settings. ARBP sv3800 bin has 2000 rpm and 10 deg while ASBY sv3800 update is 700 rpm and 60 deg. ASBY value cannot be correct. can anyone explain.

Re: VN Commodore ECU update
ASBY is not a $5D code release, its a $A5 release. So a different XDF needs to be used. The program ID at offset 8 shows what code base it is.
This is a handy website to confirm the code base... http://www.geocities.com/memcals/

Re: VN Commodore ECU update
and to think I re-read the file description a number of times to check and still missed the obvious. does anyone know what the update changes do relative to the $5D code. can I assume that the updated sv3800 code is the better one to use.
when fitting extractors would the VE values need significant alteration or does the system have enough adjustment range to learn appropriate new values or have I misunderstood the basics of the delco 808.

Re: VN Commodore ECU update
There obviously are differences but really you would not notice that many of them. Its really a case of running a bin that has the starting point you want and going from there. From the info I found on a forum sometime ago the additions to A5 from 5D are as follows...
Instantaneous fuel consumption for display purposes
Control for second fan added
Vehicle Anti Theft System added but not implemented
Second Torque Converter Clutch table deleted
Two stage crank timeout logic added
Decel delta tps decay modification
Accel delta map logic modification
DFCO modification
There are only a few percent of VE modification using BLMs, normally enough when adding extractors but there is always some extra gain by sorting the VE table and spark table properly. One thing to note, if not already said above, the BLM table is very small in relation to the VE table so one BLM value covers many VE cells. So relying on BLMs to do the work does not give the best results. I think your understanding the delco pretty well so far

and this is why we need wideband data logging in with aldl data streamVL400 wrote:the BLM table is very small in relation to the VE table so one BLM value covers many VE cells. So relying on BLMs to do the work does not give the best results. I think your understanding the delco pretty well so far
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: VN Commodore ECU update
thats where winaldl is so good for blms it pulls them out the data stream and averages them for you and the table is a perfect overlay or the VE table in vn bins.i use it all the time now going to 8192 baud aldl i have no software that does this now
its hard looking at logs to find blm verses rpm vs kpa need to get a spreedsheet program back on my PC.and yeah wideband for WOT i allways used O2 volts and a brandnew O2 sensor to do WOT VE aimed for 890mv when i did my car anything over that is safe.but in the end the car accelerated so fast it missed half the cells so yeah wideband will be handy
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem

Re: VN Commodore ECU update
if you can find a good spot to do it, do a 2nd or 3rd gear run, that will give you a slower rpm increase and easier to match up with VE tabledelcowizzid wrote:but in the end the car accelerated so fast it missed half the cells so yeah wideband will be handy

Re: VN Commodore ECU update
bit hard with the auto as when you go full throttle it kicks down
and you can get 100kpa without being full throttle which stuffs thing up have to allways make sure the pedal is hard down or you tune it all then go full throttle and its lean again.a full 1/4 mile run is ok you just miss the low rpm errors cause on the gear change it never gets down there.
