Can you get your test light and put the clip on earth, then touch the pointed end on the join where the inhibitor switch was taken out. Then turn the key to start position and this should light up.

Yep all plugged invs ss wrote:The plug that joins the engine harness to body harness on the firewall. It’s the same purple wire.
While looking around I found this plug from the old auto it orange wire, it went to the auto gearbox, I labeled it as reverse but was probably wrong
will dovs ss wrote:Can you get your test light and put the clip on earth, then touch the pointed end on the join where the inhibitor switch was taken out. Then turn the key to start position and this should light up.

well that workedvs ss wrote:Yeah that goes to the auto detent solenoid so ignore it. The purple wire goes straight from key-inhibitor switch outside down to starter. It doesn’t go the long way round or through other stuff so it has to be simple. Once you do the test that will eliminate 50% of that wire.

Re: 253 V8 carby selection
Haha nice. So that means the problem is from there to the starter. That eliminates all ign and that area.
Did you have a good look at the engine harness to body harness plug?
