p01 os cloning issues

They go by many names, P01, P10, P12, P59, E38, VPW, '0411 etc.

p01 os cloning issues

Post by tullyh »

hello all, i am completely new to tuning and hacking PCMs . i have another thread on another site and still in process of working out an OS cloning issue . I have a spare pcm for testing (saving the original ) , 2002 chevrolet silverado os 12212156 ( which is the clone and guineapig) trying to clone my 2001 os 12208322, for testing out tunes , os and xdf files readily available for that OS . Also to save my original pcm from my truck . Have had minor luck changing the os ,pcmhammer is working when it is been patched . Exact cloning has been a failure , it says os 8322 ,but it can still test out as a 2156 and a alternate "8322" . That os doesn't correctly pass the checksum 8322 vs 8322 some how doesn't pass the test or full clone . I am at a wits end . ask any questions, feel free to respond . not exacly tech savy .

thank you for your patience .

it seams that my os 8322 files and checksum fixed files (bins) aren't compatible with this XDF

"pcmhammer is working when it is been patched" - what do you mean? You should not need to patch pcmhammer. Latest version?
Can you read the one you want to clone ok?
If you do a tools->test file checksums on the one you want to write, does the file pass?
When writing, are you doing Write full flash (clone)? Can you post up exactly what pcmhammer is saying?
What are you using as a power supply? Often low quality/voltage/phone type power supplies cause reliability issues with the flash process.

I've been trying to help the OP over here http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Inject ... -os-issues, but I'm sure there is something I'm missing. Probably someone more knowledgeable than me can chime in.

There sounds like a whole world of bad with those OS checksum updates. They dont fix the OS. I've posted a comment and the 2001 silverado bins with that OS that I have (which have good checksums) in the gearhead thread.
