202 turbo

Post by seal12 »

hi, i have converted my efi turbo 202 to delco with the best of my knowledge but i think i am missing a few things as i had it on the dyno and the tuner could not do the timing as he said he couldn't read it, i have had my dizzy locked and am wondering if the camira coil is needed for this conversion to run properly? as i still run my original boshe coil, or have i missed something else which would prevent me from getting the timing through the computer? thanks, cheyne

What program are you running on the computer? If its ose12p (im assuming its an'808), did you do the comms mod? You dont need to use the camira coil. Does the tuner know what you are running?
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

yeah ive used the camira module on the dizzy and im not sure what program he uses and its an 808, also can anyone burm me a chip as i havent been back to the dyno since turboing for he wont touch it because of not being able to get the timing but i have a 2 bar map sensor and a very rough 2 bar chip from a guy on ebay but im not happy wih how it runs and could be dangerous on boost, i have had it to 10psi with no pinging but it has misfires and flat spots all over the place, with the locked dizzy i have it set to 10btdc. thanks for your help and replys in advance, cheyne ps if you want to see my setup it is on youtube under turbo hr

anyone who can help is going to either need to see the car in person or at least a few logs - nobody can tune a turbo car blind. do you have an aldl cable or anything to take a log with? it wont help that you dont know whats on the current memcal...

Ok first things first, car looks bloody schmick :punk:

now, few things im wondering:

* what tune is in it has it even been setup for a 202 or is it a v6 one modified or what ?
* since you put the turbo on it have you been running it turboed with the 1 bar map sensor ?
* what are the injectors in it, can see them in the video but can't see if they are stock or not ?

Jayme is right, you really need to get a good log of driving around in it to even get half an idea of what its doing. My guess is that if you have just bunged the turbo on after having it running natually aspirated then its most likely running lean under boost, i would be avoiding much boost until you can confirm this or not!

hi, yeah i have no cable to get a log and would not know where to start with that, before the turbo it was dynoed with the v6 memcal and the mixtures etc where spot on and it drove very nice with 150hp at wheels with no timing from ecu so he said he would not touch it again for he wasnt happy with his efforts so now i have no one in my area that can tune a delco except him so that is why i bought the 2 bar map sensor and chip from a guy called protune from ebay so atleast it can read boost, the injectors are the standard v6 ones and it will blow some black smoke so im hopeing its not lean, so basically if it was running perfect with the v6 chip before boost then all i really need is for some extra fuel to be thrown in when on boost right? and to be able to set the timing.

well standard injectors are too small for a start... way way too small. also I dont understand what you mean by the timing, can you ground the diagnostic pins with a paperclip and see what codes the engine light flashes?

when you put a timing light on it, with the engine running, does the timing move at all when you rev it a bit or does it stay absolutely locked at 10 degrees?
there is absolutely no reason for the ecu to not be able to run the timing with a camira module. maybe its as simple as one of the EST wires from the ecu > camira module not being correct. I wonder was the Reference angle properly set to 10 degrees instead of the 66 that the v6 runs.

yeah im struggling to work out how this dyno bloke can't do the timing with the delco ..... when i did my 202 delco conversion i simply locked the dizzy, fitted the camira module to it and used the 4 wires from the module to the ecm and its funny tunable via the delco spark map ....

if you want to be able to see whats going on then you really need to get a logging interface.....

i'm thinking though, are you running the tune off ebay with the 2 bar map sensor ? i get the feeling it probably wont run at all without the changes needed for 202 timing (10 degrees reference angle)

yeah im running the 2 bar map sensor plus the 2bar chip from ebay and it seems to run ok ecept for the flat spots and a few misses but that could be related to other things i guess.
i have the blue 775 injectors in the shed which the guy from ebay tuned the chip for but i replaced them back with the standard injectors because it ran like absoloute shit with the blue tops and was basically throwing fuel out the exhaust unburnt and lacked power and spluttered, put the standard ones in and had way more power and runs heaps smoother but could be lean up top but not sure as its not pinging or bogging down at a certain psi.
with the codes im not sure how this is done and i have no engine light to read codes and yes when i rev it i have noticed it will move up a bit but i paid to get it locked for this application so what do you reckon?
it may be a mix up with wiring perhaps but i would not know as an auto elec did that side of it and i would say yes the tuner would have changed the reference to suit the 202 as he is a well known whizz at tunning up here his name is matt spry.
thanks for trying to get to the bottom of this and i know it is difficult with the snippets of info i can give you.
