Easiest way to check if the this dizzy is locked is grab hold of the rotor and try and see if you can turn it a bit.
If it is locked the only amount it will turn will be the backlash in the timing gears and the distributor gear.
If you twist it and it moves 10-15 mm and when you let go springs back, it has not been locked and the the springs are still in.

Re: 202 turbo
no yoda its the vacuum advance thats not locked .... this moved the outer chopper wheel to pull in more advance at cruise. but like i said, leave the vacuum hose off and that should never move then.
the proper way to set the base timing is to have the engine running in diagnostic mode (with a paperclip jumpering the aldl connector pins) and then use a timing light to make sure it is on 10 degrees at idle.
as far as turbo size goes, for a treeter i'd stick with a t3, something that spools quicker is what you want, no use coming out of a corner and being 50 mtrs up the road and the turbo finally spools, you want it to spool as your coming out of the corner!
as far as a 5 speed and diff i would go 3.08 for that thing .... well actually i'd go 3.08 even without a turbo
you most likely have the 3.5:1 first gear in your supra .... there are two options in them 3,28 or 3.5 .... you pretty much get moving with the 3.5 then you have to change to 2nd! the 3.28 is much more like a normal 4 speed gearing .... i think i used to get about 60kms out of my celica 5 speed in first!
also having a 3.08 will help to make 1st a little bit more useful.

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: 202 turbo
the strata kits had a rather large rear housing you dont want it on too early or it puts a lot more strain on the bottomend at low revs and also causes higher cylinder temps and under bonnet temps with a small housing ide be running a .84 rear just for flow and lower cylinder temps so it can take more timing if its sized right you should be able to tow a trailer at low throttle and never build boost

Re: 202 turbo
thanks for all the info guys very useful and interesting, i took the car to vn5000 today so he can get started, sounds like he is willing to help me out alot and is also looking into installing a knock sensor and an engine light so i can read codes etc he actually seems excited to be working on it so thats always a good sign and quite rare these days so hopefully have some news tomorrow arve.
yeah i was thinking a 3.08 as only today i was merging lanes and boosted in 4 and it took off like a slingshot, this was a supprise to me as i have never given it much in 4 or 5 for i heard it will blow the gears as they are small and cant handle the torque. so i can see if i had taller gears down low it might allow it to act alot different.
with the turbo i have a suspicion it is a tad small as it does seem to be working hard all the time and generating high temps.will wait and see if it has anything to do with the tune i am running.
cheers, cheyne

Re: 202 turbo
knock sensor probably wont work as theres no straight 6 knock filter boards around could maybe try every v6 knock filter board and see if one may work ish LOL i wouldnt even be boosting on the protune memcal ive lost count of boosted engines that have poped shit with them amature tunes in he was on ebay under another name must of got too much bad feedback and started a new account LOL .takes a long time to make a good boosted tune ive lost count of the hours gone into the vb turbos tune but its up there and gets better every time we tweak it 2250 bytes in the tune are so far modified getting the intake temp corrections and VE right is the key to having correct fueling no matter what weather altitude etc.ide be getting some injectors asap stockers wont support boost past 2-3psi max if any at all

Re: 202 turbo
Been playing with your car today seal12 .I loaded up $12p with the blcd cal and made a few changes , put it on the nvram and put one of my modded 808s in it for datalogging.I put the 775 inj in it as well.It all started up and idled nice ,it even reved up ok but it had logged two codes 41 and 42.After a bit of fucking around testing shit , i found that the est and bypass wires had been cut 15 cm up the loom,so the only wires to the 4 pin plug were ref pulse and earth.I started it up once i fixed it at it ran real sweet. I took it for a drive and did some datalogging ,the first log i drive it like a granny ,then i did another log a put the foot down a bit. After that i ran out of time.Ishould have it finished tomorrow.Every thing running like it should except coolant temp sensor seems to be reading high 100 + but the guage says 85 90.Also there a oil leak from the turbo oil drain.I thightened the clamps
IKnow holden 202 will want look at the bin so ill post the bin i made(note ive only just started with it)
