Yes and no. the vx and vy flash pcms yes, that has a process similar to the later P01 where we upload our code to the pcm and that is bank aware and returns the correct data. For the pcm memcal type computer we are talking about here the factory read code is not bank aware so the operating system part ends up corrupted. The way GM designed it the calibration area is not banked so the calibration part of the same file is ok. The net result is you can use it if you understand what I just said and know how to work around this when you write changes back in a programmer. But it'd fall in to doesn't work category for most people. Further, if you are writing changes in a programmer, you might as well read it in a programmer too and avoid the problem entirely.

Do you think its stock, or do you think its aftermarket? If its stock you can just read the 4 letter code off the side of the pcm and look up the program type here: https://pcmhacking.net/memcals.html or you can go straight to the enhanced tune for that model/engine/transmission combination and use that XDF for VATS. (You cant use that one for the MAF tables, or any of the extra features that were added to the factory tune, but the standard settings that were not changed still line up).

Yes it is stock. I'm just trying to help a mate out who understands these even less than me. I did find the info in the mecal ID DDRH2540 $A5K x. I can't get Tunerpro to open the bin files for some reason. Is the $5AK the dxf?

A5 is the program, K is variant K (as they made minor changes at the factory, which means that offsets changed slightly, so there needs to be different definitions taking those minor changes in to account) XDF = eXtended Definition Format. I havn't check A5K is right for you - taking your word for that, but you can get the A5K XDF here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=5 Scroll down to it, mouse over the filename and click.

G'day Antus, thanks for all your help. Yes i finally found the XDF last night while doing more research. It is the correct XDF for this particular setup. SCV6. I had trouble finding it because i was told it was VX commodore and nothing came up. Finally found it under VT. Now to see if i can fxxk things up properly lol. Thanks again for your help

Yep, Holden did not re-engineer the SC platform, they stuck with what they had for the VT, and put it in the VX/VY as well. I guess they thought the volume of sales would be too low to justify creating another calibration and do the testing on the VX/VY flash pcm. On the plus side that means the realtime nvram still works, too, which you cant use in the VX/VY Flash PCM.
