HI
I have a 304 / th700 WB one tonner on lpg using a single plane manifold , i would like to use an 808 to run the ignition , converter lock on the trans and engine cooling fans.
Can i use a vn/vp v6 808 ecu and just change to a V8 memcal ? ( not interested in tuning the ignition just yet ) .
As i understand at the moment i will need to connect coolant temp, throttle position , MAP sensor and possibly intake air temp to make it all work. ( as well as power and ignition system etc )
Can i just use a resistor in place of the air temp sensor ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Re: LPG WB tonner
You dont actually need the V8 memcal, the V6 one will be fine in a spark only conversion - the cyl select part of the memcal only changes how often the injectors are fired. So could burn a V8 bin to a V6 memcal in your application.

Re: LPG WB tonner
Does the air temp sensor affect the ignition timing, if it does can i replace it with a resistor of value similar to a really cold reading from the air temp sensor, assuming that would tell the ECU to acess a different timing map.
Have read stories on the net where people have added a resistor either in series or in parrallel with the air temp sensor and the engine performance supposedly increased ?

there is a table to change timing based on inlet temp, but it doesnt ususually change it much, that sensor is more to do with fuelling... for your purposes, I htink a resistor would work ok. tho, its not hard to drill and tap the sensor into the inlet, that way its there if you ever want to throw some injectors on it.

Re: LPG WB tonner
the resistor in series is basically making the engine think its incoming air is hotter or colder than it is so it will offset tables with different values. ie. more or less spark at a given temperature or more or less fuel etc.
at the end of the day having the mat sensor not there or a resistor inplace is only going to mean there is one less thing that will offset timing.....
the only issue you may have is if its really hot day you might get pinging whereas if you had the sensor it might pull some timing and stop pinging.
having said that, if its not too hard to fit i would be mounting it up under the bottom of the air cleaner as close to the inlet as possible .... i would prefer to have it there personally.

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: LPG WB tonner
Hi all
Got the ute running great using a camira ignition module with the original holden dissy running the camira memcal !The V6 memcal made the engine very hard to start , from what i have read it is the ignition reference angle causing me grief so have had a play with tuner pro.
The B10 wire for the converter lock function, can i leave it connected to earth or does it need to be switched by the park/neutral switch ??
In this forum somewhere i found a bin file for a V8 LPG Engine but for the life of me i cant find it again, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Great site fellas , keep up the good work!

Re: LPG WB tonner
you need the v8 tune on the eprom in the memcal cant use a v6 or 4 cylinder tune
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem

Re: LPG WB tonner
i think what hes saying is it works with the reference angle in the camira tune, so would need to change a v8 tune to have the same reference angle then it will work ok.

I thought all the distributor tunes were 10 degrees, including V8? According to Dr Bobs list, there is no VN/VP V8 LPG bin, the one you would be thinking of would be the VS V8 one. You'll need a normal auto tune, or a $12p one, and then modify it to not complain about the hardware youve not connected. Then you'll have a better spark map than the camira one. You'll also need a speed sensor for the TCC, and on the VN/VP I think and you might need to configure the PPK (pulses per km) to match the signal your feeding in to the ecu.
