could be a silly question, but I've learned it is better to ask questions than to pick up the pieces of my broken life, so here we go.
I was looking around in my PCM (P01 2156) because I am installing electric fans and why not poke around while I'm in here.
I noticed the Transmission Performance Mode was disabled. Out of curiosity I pulled up the map for my other truck (P59 7811). Also disabled. I know I hadn't done it. I'm assuming it was set that way in the factory. Is there a reason for it to be disabled? If I enable it, is there anything else that needs adjusted or tuned?
The truck I'll be setting up and using for hauling a few tons of grain 3 or 4 hours down the freeway. I just want to make sure everything is setup like it should be before I make said voyage.
Thank you

Re: Transmission Performance Mode disabled
I'm probably over thinking it. Just hit the Tow/Haul button and go, but I am still curious.

Re: Transmission Performance Mode disabled
I am not familiar with this part of the OS, or those trucks, but in general what is performance mode? If it is button related, and you get it when you press that tow button then I have seen flags for enabling or disabling power buttons, so in both your tunes maybe your car has the button and that setting is unused? If you removed the switch, and disabled a scalar for the switch being connected, then maybe you'd set that for always performance mode or leave it how it is for never performance mode. I could be way off here, if someone knows more about the system please tell us.
If that is the case, then there might be potential for someone to write a patch for the operating system to do something else with the switch and use that setting to keep performance mode always on, or similar.

Re: Transmission Performance Mode disabled
I see a lot of different cars that have a sport mode button. Makes a car drive totally different. One that comes to my mind is a customer that has a Mini Cooper S with a 6 speed. When you put it in sport mode it literally seems to be faster somehow. More torque perhaps. It's almost as if when you press the button the PCM assumes an alternate tune. I also have seen the sport mode setting disabled in my Chevy truck PCMs and am also curious. I know that the Corvette at one time used the P01 and P59 for their PCM and I would assume that the Corvette has some sort of sport mode. Best thing to do would be to compare a bin for an Automatic Corvette with the same PCM as yours and see what's different. I would also be interested to know more about this.

Re: Transmission Performance Mode disabled
yeah, could be in there for the occasional model that has a "performance mode" like a sports car.
I skimmed through and didn't see anything else relating to said performance more aside from the enable/disable. which is odd. I will will have to go back in there and take a slower more in depth look. see if I find anything, and how I would enable it, like a button or such, if possible.

Hi all,
If memory serves, I believe Pete (creator of many useful apps and hardware it seems) has explored this function.
Y'all might try reaching out to him for assistance.

Re: Transmission Performance Mode disabled
From what I understand, the Performance Mode is the same as the Tow/Haul function. Essentially one would wire up a switch (many write ups around the internet) and then use the "Performance" tables in the transmission to set different shift speeds, TCC engagement, line pressure, etc. Several people have used that as a way to have two different transmission tunes at the press of a button.
