I have just finished writing a Flash Tool for Spanish Oak 1024k PCMs (AKA the Aussie Ford FG Falcon), but I am hoping to broaden my horizons a bit and want to test the software on circa 2005 Mustang GT's & Crown Victoria's as these have a Spanish Oak PCM with 1024k memory for the 4.6Litre V8's. Anyone from the USA have access to and willing to do some software testing on these vehicles?
Thanks,

Hi Jakka. I do have a PCM from a USA 2009 Crown Vic. Not 100% whether or not it is a Spanish Oak but I would be more than willing to test your software with it. It is a damaged PCM however for the purpose of reading and writing purposes it is 100% functional.jakka wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 5:04 pm I have just finished writing a Flash Tool for Spanish Oak 1024k PCMs (AKA the Aussie Ford FG Falcon), but I am hoping to broaden my horizons a bit and want to test the software on circa 2005 Mustang GT's & Crown Victoria's as these have a Spanish Oak PCM with 1024k memory for the 4.6Litre V8's. Re: Spanish Oak Flash Tool, looking for some Americans...
I could be wrong, but I think 2005-2011 Crown vic computers are all of the same type/generation. I haven't worked on them directly, but there's people I talk to that do. There's 98-02, 03 (fuel system change), 04 (canbus), then 05-11 (ecu type changed).
I'm pretty sure I have a computer or two from that era, but I don't have a bench harness built. I do however have PCM Flash with the module that allows to read/write those computers, so if I did build the bench harness I'd have something to compare the file with.
Problem is, it's derby season, so have a lot of activity right now for orders so not sure if/when I'd have time. I'm sure someone else would probably be able to test before me, they are really common cars here, just the tuning scene doesn't seem very big on the Ford side, at least for what I've seen vs GM models (which I do nothing with currently lol).
I'm not sure how related it would be, but there's also a PCM-D186 over here, seems to be the oddball computer between tech type of thing. Went from EEC-V to D186, then moved on to the newer ones (not sure which one exactly). The D186 reads/writes correctly within PCM Flash what I suspect is the same settings as the 05-11 vic computers. They are 1472kb dumps and use the same connector type as the EEC-V computers here (104 pin) at least for the Ford Taurus (04-07).
I've been wanting to get into those computers (D186 and newer), been using SAD for the EEC-V ones, from my understanding others have used Ghidra, but I haven't worked out the settings 100% to get a good disassemble. I suspect a lot less stuff is automated in Ghidra since it's more of a universal tool and I'm a noob with it lol.
