Holden VY BCM Control Questions

Post by evilstuie »

Hey All,

I now have my dash working without needing to use the VY gauge cluster, and I want to tidy up my wiring by removing the BCM if I can.
The car is a 1985 Pontiac TransAM running an LS1 and most of the body wiring harness is now from a VY commodore.

I originally had the VY dash in there and all the BCM wiring as well to get the gauges reading, but now use an OBD2/Android tablet setup for that.

My questions are:
Is there anything in the BCM that would require me to keep it for:
* Window Wiper Control (Using VY wiper motor and stalk stick)
* Indicators (Using VY steering column and indicator control
* Hazards (Using Vy Hazard button in the dash)

I have the imobiliser/VATS deactivated in the tune as I have my own alarm and antitheft measures implemented, and I've purchased a standalone wiring harness for the motor to tidy that up as well. I have the wiring diagrams for most of the BCM, at least the wires I'd need to keep if that's the case.

Will I need to keep the BCM in some capacity for the above functions, or can these be wired in direct and eliminate the BCM entirely?
