I figured it would be BCM based, typically controls all of those items.

The SDM may play a part in it all since it is part of the safety system, but the BCM is the one that does actually broadcast alot of information to the instrument cluster.

Give this VIN a go 1GCGTBEN7M1122389. This work truck is very similar. It is a 4WD truck so you can't use the whole BCM calibration, but there are only a few differences.
With some trial and error you might get it.

The problem is my BCM is going to be the same as any BCM. I would need to find one with RPO code "buckle to drive-remove," which doesnt exist as far as I can tell. Theres no factory BCM without buckle to drive which is what I'd need. That's why I'd need to actually hack the calibration.

Or hack the calibration of the radio to enable the buckle to drive menu item which I feel might be a tad easier. I haven't compared calibrations against another ior radio yet, hopefully I'll have some time over the weekend.

I'm just making sure I do all the research I possibly can before I drop another $45 on another vin for SPS. It would suck if it didn't work.

I think what you need is a bcm calibration with the option to turn off buckle to drive.. but a couple posts back I mentioned the radio cal differences and there's a couple vins to play with, I think the backup camera was the only different option, could try that cal along with the sdm cal I suggested and see if the radio option shows up? teen driver, buckle to drive, etc..

We can dig into the BCM cals and check those out too.. I suspect the different rpo's for buckle to drive is that one can be turned off in the radio vehicle settings..

Yes I think Ironduke is on the right track. You need to just allow the buckle to drive option in the BCM and or radio calibrations.
The best way is to find a similar truck and try the calibrations in yours to see what happens.

Doh yeah, I forgot. I got all excited about that sdm calibration file. The first ac Delco guy sounded so sure of himself and I was momentarily filled with hope. I should have known better

I'll try the radio file and after my last call with delco I didn't bother to put the original sdm cal back so we're good there.

Thank you!

Nothing to report. I tried the radio file to no avail. I emailed gmupfitter to see if they could give me some clarification on their documentation, but have only received a cursory "I'll ask an engineer" response.

I've got two cracks in my sewer pipe under my slab foundation so I've been busy dealing with that.

I did go back and RTFM and it appears on the 2021 buckle to drive is off by default unless teen driver is activated, so there likely is no on/off button for the radio.
