2008 Ford Falcon FG G6E pcm

Post by abs351 »

Hi

Wondering if it's possible to disable PATS security within the PCM Flash binary file (2008 Ford Falcon FG G6E) anyone done this yet? Trying to locate it, but somewhat challenging within out comparing a file that has it.
I'm well aware HP tuners can perform this and other tuning tools. But I would like to have this turned off without external programs.
I have attached the PCM binary file.
PCM is Spanish Oak 1024k Powertrain Control Module.
I'll be looking into this further in the interim, any advice or file with it disabled will be much appreciated within the FG Mk1 Strategies

Many Thanks

It's clear where bytes are being changed 01 to 00 & 00 to 01....so possibly PATS but there's other bytes being changed.
Not sure if these other byte changes are something caused by flashing with ** software, so them adding their signature or if it's a checksum due to the 2 PATS switch changes....it differs at the same location between 2 FG1 files I just looked at. Your HAEDJJ4 & HAEDDEZ. Your file with changes are attached. v1 & v2

Do a compare & see if one or both files work & let us know.
v1 is a read that still has the extra bytes unchanged. I changed the PCM serial & APS-23* part number back to the original so the compare is easier. I was using a 231
v2 is v1 with the 2 extra bytes retuned to stock, so it only has the 01 to 00 & 00 to 01 bytes that are changed if this works without any issues, then we know that the other bytes can be ignored

Hi oldtinford,

Thanks for the reply, yes both binarys did work, car started with and without a cluster present.. I did check them both out and did a hex compare.
Only thing noticeable is the cluster displays, immobilized error warning and the immobilizer light symbol appears permanent, but car starts.
I assume you used pcmtec/hptuners on your own licensed car, changed flipped the values , wrote the tune to the car and then extracted the binary did a compare before mod and after mod?
There must be another byte that flags the clusters to suppress the warning msg.
Interestingly there is no dtc error for car being immobilized?
I believe within the tune software you may need to flip the value on PATS Alternate Cluster Switch
Thanks

I flashed your file to a PCM on the bench, read the PCM with HP, disabled PATS, flashed it back with HP & read it out as .bin
I'm going to guess that the additional bytes that are different in v1 are something HP software does to denote the PCM has being edited/written by their software.
PATs immobiliser warning on the cluster is normal from my experience. I'm not aware of a byte in the PCM that disables the warnings, but it's worth having another look....Maybe by disabling the P1260 fault code. I'll have another look at what can be tried later.
Let me know all the PATS related fault codes

Ok had a feeling this was the case with HP tuner or Pcmtec being used. But thanks for checking this out.

I have updated my previous msg.
I suspect PATS Alternate Cluster Switch is the flag that needs to be flipped should remove error msg from the cluster.

You can disable PATS in the binary with a hex editor. I'll show you how gimme ten minutes

Bueno. Did you manage to disable the DTC that causes the immobilized to pop up on the cluster screen? I imagine you would have to disable to DTC in the cluster firmware not the PCM?
