Possible new project

Post by monaro308 »

Hi all,I'm in the mood for a possible new project of mounting a VX V6 s/charger on my 308 red.
I'll remove the plenum that i made and make an adapter plate to mount the S/C and work out a way to mount the pulleys etc etc.
I'll be using the existing set up that i have ie rails, injectors,TB.
Questions.....2 bar map sensor, what are you 2bar people using and where are you buying them from and cost?
How critical will it be that i HAVE to use the S/C6 injectors? can i get a way with the standard VN 6/8 on a stock engine or can i fudge the inj rate VE tables to suit on 12P.
Any major traps/tricks to look out for using 12P ie VE boost multiplier,VE Boost tables etc.
It may turn into a suck it and see project if the S/C measures up ok between my fuel rails.
Anything else you can think of that i might need or need to do....chime in
Cheers..Mario

map sensors i have normally gotten off ebay, can pay up to $80-90 for one

injectors will work but you may find they run out of puff before the blower does!

An M112 would have been nice delco, but i am making sure it will fit between my fuel rails and clear the dissy and all the other fun that i'm sure will come with it
If it all turns to shite,i can at least off load the S/C to someone with a commie.
Funnily enough i thought the M90 was rated to about a 4.5lt engine but i am seeing pics of LS1's and 2's running the M90 :o
I'm up for another challenge as my LS1 is sitting on the engine stand waiting for the day when i could be bothered waking up and say "Its LS time"!
The LS is getting done to death these days in all sorts of cars and i like what most of us delco dudes are playing with on here.
A bit left field and something worthy of a challenge keeps me interested

On a side note, anyone that watches the show "Classic Resto's" with Fletch shown on TV here in Melbourne and other states i presume, will feature my 2 mates that have started up business called "Pitmans classic cars" as an on the side venture.
My mate (i was his best man) lost his little boy Marcus to a brain stem tumor 2 years ago aged at 5 y/old.
They had been trying to start a family for nearly 10 years.
Anyways the episode is all about organising a family day - car show - fund raising for the Isabella and Marcus brain stem tumor foundation . We raised about $8000.00 on the day with ALOT of kind business' donating gifts to auction off.
ALL the money went to the foundation to find a cure for this rare inoperable tumor.

I got the call the night before to bring my munro in for the display even though the body ain't show material
but i was spewing that my printer was stuffed as i wanted to print up some "Delco Hacking.net " stickers to advertise this great site.
I'm not even sure if my car is in the episode, but Fletch was hovering around filming the engine bay with my homemade efi set up....and i wished i could have printed some up!
BUT the day was about raising money and we all had a great day.
The episode is on next thursday April 8 @ 8.30pm and repeated the sat @5.30pm

PS the S/C arrived tonight

bit of info i know of for the M90 (i started researching when i got mine) .....

ok the specs i could find said 3.5 - 5ltr motors .....

also i was talking to a dyno bloke who was dyno tuning an ecotec with a m90 on it and the motor was a 4.2ltr stroker .... now it had stock pulley and such and it was only pushing 3psi into that motor, so my guess is, if you wanted to get any decent boost on something bigger than a V6 then smaller pulley is going to be required.

if you decide to make any custom inlet manifolds (to bolt onto the back of the blower) let me know cause i'd be willing to pay for you to make 2 :)

I'll see what i can come up with as i havent even lifted the bonnet for a week or 2 to see if my dissy is going to be in the way without lifting the height of the blower.
The other thing is that damn bypass hole under the blower as it would be nice to just make an adapter plate that bolts straight on the manifold and bolt the blower to the plate.
I need a bit of thinking before i pull the setup i have off.

202 ,take a pic of your setup under your bonnet and do a rough paint/photoshop of how you might want it to look,as i most likely will go with a diffferent looking adapter on the back...i think the stock setup looks butt ugly.
I even thought of turning the M90 around with an idler shaft to the rear....ala some other setups and keeping the TB at the front but i doubt i have the room.

I'll see what happens.

mines not on a car at the moment .... its also the american version with this base:

this is a square bore gasket on it:

my plan is to make an adaptor to mount it on top of a buick manifold with the top cut off it etc. but thats about as far as i've gotten!

Hmmm that M90 base of yours would make easier work to adapt. Did Buick run an external by-pass set-up of some sort?
When ever you get a chance, take a pic of the back of the s/c and i'll compare it to mine.
I still have my dunger VN V6 S1 engine (not sure what you have)at my mums place from nearly 15 years ago with inlet intact.
I might take some measurements oneday ie bottom HB pulley lined up to S/C pulley and write it down for a rainy day ;)

Back to work for me...still haven't lifted the bonnet

sorry i should have been more specific, the one i have is off an american 3.8ltr v6 mustang or something similar.

there is a plate that bolts to the outlet and has a pipe fitting on it which is how the usa cars did it i believe.
