Seems like the only way would be direct floppy solder to board & keep it as short as possible!

it would be possible to make up a board that plugs in the expansion header and provides a DIP socket, or PCM memcal compatible socket. You might need a couple of jumper wires, or could make it so that there are a couple of extra pins that land nearby the header where the signals are present at vias on the pcm pcb. A bit of work to develop. Not huge, not small, though. More than just a casual 1 night project.
