Re: 265 Hemi to efi
I found a post back in 2015 about the same problem and a reply from Dylan said the dizzy output was low, high enough for spark but not enough for the injectors. Any ideas on what would be too low a reading, thanks

I can't help with that one but the disy output is only used as a trigger so If you got spark you would also have fuel. I have never measured the voltage @ B5 but it would just be a low level pulse. I can have a fiddle tomorrow and see what I get on one of my cars that has easy access to the ECU. Have you got a diagnostic plug wired up on your car?

Just found this. Have a look at the diagnosis that it may be in clear flood mode.

Re: 265 Hemi to efi
A bit of progress today, found that the reluctor gap was too wide, was 0.023 when it should have been 0.009. Restested B5 and it is now getting 1v AC and now it kind of runs and idles very badly on fuel but fouls the plugs quickly. Also getting RPM on tuner pro, thanks Antus. I increased the fuel pressure on the new regulator and it improved the idle a bit but there is still a major problem. Definitely no problems with fuel pressure per the regulator gauge. Thanks for all the help so far.Charlescrown wrote: Sat Dec 07, 2024 5:22 am I can't help with that one but the disy output is only used as a trigger so If you got spark you would also have fuel. When things go wrong I always chack pressure and flow before venturing into the unknown. It's all fun. Good luck today.

Re: 265 Hemi to efi
when you have it running does it say in tuner pro that its in EST mode ?
i wouldnt have thought the reference signal into the ECU would be AC ... and the doco i have for camira says B5 is 0.15vDC with key on and 1.3v in run.im pretty sure if you scope it, you'll get a 5v square wave signal.
important wires for this:
B3 - Reference ground signal
B5 - distributor reference signal
D4 - EST ouput signal (0.15v DC at key on, 1.2v in run)
D5 - Bypass Signal (0.15v DC at key on, 4.5v in run)
the basics of it, it sends the reference to the ECU, that is what the ecu uses for its RPM signal and while cranking you have fixed 10degrees spark from the ignition module, then over a certain rpm i think its 450, it switches to EST mode, where the bypass wire switches from low to high, this then allows the EST signal to go to the ignition module and this is then ECU controlled spark.
if you had a scope with 2 channels or even a logic analyser you could watch B5 for signal then you should get D4 outputing a signal also but it will be different length pulses (longer dwell)
im pretty sure the specs above where they say 1.3v etc is because if you look at the pulses with a multimeter it will be too slow to show them properly, but it will give you something, where in reality if you have a scope you'd see full 0-5v square wave pulses.

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: 265 Hemi to efi
This video shows a good display of the AC output of the Bosch inductive pickup coil. It's not your typical AC scope patern but a rather distorted one due to the design. The modules fires a tad after the crossover from positive to negative. Thats why the polarity is important. Some Falcons got out of the factory with the pickup coil upside down. They ran but after a short time blew the rotor and posts inside the cap to bits.

Re: 265 Hemi to efi
Thanks Holden202, I will check Tuner Pro for EST mode next time I have it running. It’s killing me as it should be reasonably simple to diagnose the problem but i still haven’t worked it out. I am happy that I have rpm on TunerPro. It the using a scope is beyond me. The AC signal, not sure but that’s what I believe the diagnostic chart asks for. Too busy this weekend but am going to start the Camira diagnostic charts from scratch again next weekend.
