NVRAM PCM - Full Flash Failed

Post by PHLTHS »

Hi All,

I purcahsed a NVRAM from this forum about 2-3 years ago. I believe it was Gareth.
I finally tried to use it for the first time the other day, however it seems to be giving me some issues. Prob my fault.
I originally ordered it for a VX L67, so THE1 VX BIN was flashed onto it by Gareth, however, I'm now wanting to use this in my VT II.
So, I tried to full flash the BIN from VX to VT so I could start tuning it etc, however it failed.
VATS is disabled and also some minor tweeks to the tune.
Also the jumpers were in place as per the documentation.

I've attached the BIN file and also the logs from the OSE Flash Output if it helps?

Right now, I cannot connect to the NVRAM in order to correct this.

Any advise on how I can fix this?

Vehicle: Holden VT II 1999 Calais L67

OSE Flash Details: VT Eco or S/C in Vehicle
Version: 0.1.5.1
Interace: USB ALDL

NVRAM Details:
Rev 3.3
VT Jumpers: Enabled
R/W Jumpers: Enabled

PCM Details: CXWH
Service Number: 16233396

I have no connection with this seller but if you have no luck finding someone local you can get this and use it any time you need to change the operating system of if you brick it due to data mismatch again. The T48 progammer eg: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/196800597472
Standard disclaimer, you just need to be super careful when you pull the nvram chip off the board as the pins are thin and easily bend or break. So you have to lift one end with a small screwdriver, lift the other end with a small screw driver or similar an work it out bit by bit especially careful when it lets go as the last pins out tend to be the ones to bend. Same when you put it back in, you have to make sure its properly aligned, if one of the pins catch they can be crushed when it slots in.
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

Hey Antus,

Thank you so much for the quick reply.

With all the information that I have provided, did I do anything wrong process wise, or was this just bad luck?

Thank you and Merry Christmas.

Yeah you cant change operating system without a programmer, so when you tried to flash VX to VT that was a mismatch between calibration and operating system and would have bricked it. You always have to have matching software between the nvram, the bin on the pc, the XDF and ADX. To change operating system (or undo a brick) you need the programmer.
