Oil Analysis & Talk

Post by The1 »

I figure it would be handy to have a thread where you can post your oil samples and talk about oils.

There is heaps of good info from Lake Speed I think that's how you spell his name, the oil guy on YT. What I learned is how much I don't know about oil chemistry. That area is hella complex! And then the needs of the particular engine makes selecting the right oil a complex task, really only analysis like this in a methodical and controlled way is the only real way of knowing if the oil is working as should for your engine or not.

Having a decent understanding of oil and it's chemistry will only get you in the ballpark most of the time based on assumptions, testing of used oil and logging all kinds of data is the only way to confirm you have the right oil.
