Hi all,
I have a 2007 Holden VE Calais with a LY7 and 5L40E. The motor had some bottom end knock, so I bought a 2009 VE LY7 motor, stupidly thinking it would be compatible with my 07 LY7 motor...
Turns out the cam sensors are different on the replacement motor (same physical outer diameter size, same harness connector, but different cam sensor part number and design) and while the enginre starts, it sounds like crap, sounds like the timing chain is slapping, and idle is hunting high and low all over the place, i.e. VVT not working at all.
I thought about buying another ECU, but I'm going to be in the same boat with VATS and communication with the other modules not working, and I'd also need to find an 09 with 5L40E so I'm just wondering what my options are to fix this issue.
I'm not sure if the '09 E77 PCM will be any different phyiscally to the '07 E77, since Holden/GM loves to use the same part number for 50+ variants of their shit (should've learnt by now from 4L60E) but it seems to me a flash of the '09 PCM with OS etc would have the correct data to read the cam sensors.
I have the following tools at my disposal, but I've just played with 0411PCMs and novice tunign on LS1's:
HPTuners with cable and software
AVT-852 cable
ALDL cable
Chinese/Ebay Tech2 Clone (good for reading codes but not compatible with online Tech2Win as far as I know)
I just need to either download the BIN from my ECU and give it to someone to throw a '09 stock tune on there, or find another tune file and disable VATS and update the chassis# to link with the BCM etc.
Any help is greatly appreciated
