I think as long as the bin settings are set above the map maximum you can still tune it just means a whole new tune the next time.

Re: After market MAP sensors
Pretty sure the voltage scaling is a complete mismatch using an odd MAP sensor. But maybe there are settings to be able to fool it?
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.

Re: After market MAP sensors
I would think that the VE tables for fuel and the spark table would be altered by the tuner to match the bad map sensor to the data when logging. Not saying it's good but is in fact bad but It would cover up what's not scaled correctly resulting in a poor tune.

Re: After market MAP sensors
Personally I'd buy a haltech one at the right rating. Quality conpany, never say never but i'd be suprised if they sold junk that didnt work. And even if they did I think you'd get good support if you tested it bad and showed them the evidence. Better than buying a known mismatch and trying to tune around it. Its too likely it'll never run right because the nice to have oem bits will be out of tune when normally you dont need to touch most of them.

Re: After market MAP sensors
I suppose most of these cheap MAP sensors just get fitted to cars during a routine repair and no one ever knows why it never goes like it used to.

Re: After market MAP sensors
Yep. A mate of mine bought a BMW 1 series cheap that was running like crap that someone had given up on. He checked the DTCs and found a MAF error. Checked the MAF and it was a fake with a diode where the hotwire should be. He bought an OEM MAF and installed it and the car was fine again after that. Pretty easy to find and fix to the right person, but somewhere out there, there is a clone seller who pocked the money for the fake and the person who bought it lost big and ended up selling the car cheap.

Re: After market MAP sensors
So the Chinese aftermarket thought that litttle wire inside a glass bead was a diode. Says a lot for quality control.

Re: After market MAP sensors
I think they thought it looked enough like a diode they'd get away with it 9 times out of 10 and pocket the difference and run away lol.

Re: After market MAP sensors
Called haltech. Asked where their 3 bar map sensors are made. They say they don't know.
