2024 Trailblazer. Global B or not?

Post by Gatecrasher »

I can't find any concrete info on this. Does anyone know if the facelifted US market 2024 Trailblazer is Global B or not?

I've got a chance to buy a bunch of parts off one, but I'm only interested if it's Global B so I can set up a test bench for that architecture.

According to this, no trailblazer is global b including up to 2026 https://gmauthority.com/blog/gm/general ... /global-b/

That's what made me stop too.

But this thing does appear to have a Gen 3 central gateway, so it's possible GM Authority is wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

There's also GEM, or Global Emerging Markets architecture, but I know even less about that than I do about Global B / VIP.

It appears that it's not Global B based off service information.

Thanks. I came to the same conclusion after reading more about that 2-connector gateway module.

Been doing a bit more reading about this thing. I'm gonna call it Global A Plus.

Looks like the defining traits of A vs B is that A still has low speed GMLAN, and no FD CAN. Trailblazer fits that, but it also has CAN networks that are fully firewalled by the gen 3 gateway module. So if you're ever trying to mess with the data buses on one of these cars, you probably won't get very far at the diagnostic port. It also has a private ethernet link between the OnStar unit and the infotainment system. Ethernet is something else I thought was exclusive to Global B.

This car also uses the new vehicle cockpit unit. It integrates the IPC functions into the infotainment module. So the cluster is just a dumb LVDS display now. It replaces the Info 3.x systems. They're phasing those in to several cars from ~24 onward.

Just to add another bit of trivia to this, I have no idea how it relates to CLEA. China Local Electrical Architecture.

Wished I would have known ya wanted date, I rented a 2024 all last week, and put 1000 miles on it..

Was actually going to jack in and check why the tach was jumpy at cruise.. Felt like a misfire, but though maybe was on purpose GM. 19k on the Odometer. Never got around to checking, but willing to bet it's Global A. All other 2023-24 sub prime models, still rocking Global A. Had a chat with some GM techs about it recently. Platform related phase Up's. :)

No worries. I grabbed enough to make a nice bench setup during the Memorial Day sale. I'll get it thrown together when I clear a few other things off my plate.

That gateway is interesting. Dual SPC58 CPUs. Sounds like it could be tricky to get the code out of them.
