DA errors while car running.

Post by hsv08 »

Been ages since posting a topic!

So I’ve got a cammed manual VY L67 in at the moment, I’ve got issue with DA errors.

It will give about 3-4 errors out of every 10 packets leaving me with about 5-6hz

When cars not running, I may get one every 3-400 packets, but running is terrible.

Running a NVRAM and VL400 interface

Things I’ve tried
Two different laptops
A different cable (same interface)
Changing echo settings
Removing bcm
Different coils
Different plugs
V150 ose and v180 ose
Different xdf
And a few other things I can’t remember now too.

This NVRAM and cable and laptop was use the other day on a turbo VT 5L (in a VN body) with no dramas at all.
This Calais, is a nightmare.

What else can i try??
Changed a few timeout and silence settings too but don’t really know what to change there.

Once you disconnect the BCM the heartbeat stops and the data bus should go quiet and it should work. It sounds like you might have a bad module in the car or something aftermarket that is not silencing and is causing problems. All you can do is disconnect things until it works. If that's too hard you could possibly cut the ALDL cable from the PCM end of the loom to isolate the PCM from the rest of the car and connect it straight to the aldl interface somehow, disable vats, and then at least your comms to the pcm will be ok while you tune, then put it back when you're done.
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

Thanks for the reply Antus. I think I’ll do that as I’ve exhausted all other avenues in my head.

I was hoping the it may have been the bcm causing the dramas. But it seems these things are generally pretty noisey anyway. Just never had one do this before

I’ll cut it at pcm and wire it straight through to an external obd port. Would it be ok to jump pin 16 and 4 or 5 from the original OBD plug, all in that possibly a culprit too?

anything is possible, it could be power, but I'd assume its a problem with a device on the aldl bus, not power.
