just downloaded ose v11 and wont work on my v110 nvram

Post by V8hilux »

I have the v110 version of ose12p and had the last years version of tunerpro and flashtool and last years nvram.

I recently dwnloaded new everything. new tunerpro, new 12P version, new flashtool.

I'm sitting in the car right now and seem to get error messages saying different versions when trying to send bin to ecu.

How can I tell the nvram to run the newer version of adx bins etc that i have now.

I just rebuilt my holden 383 vn/vp with a turbo and am about to try to get it running and tune myself.
I am a noob but have the basics figured out and a wideband is on the way. I just want to upload the new v111 version and start with that.

Thanks.

From the FAQ ive been drafting (not yet released):

Q. How do I update from one $12P version to another?
A. You do this with the flashtool. This process assumes you have a correctly functioning NVRAM board installed in the ecu. The exact process depends on what your original version is.

1. Load the flashtool, connect to the ecu. Observe the version. The details box will show something like OSE 12 Professional V1.1.0.
2. Download the cal and save it to something like mytune-12p-v1.x.x.cal - include the version from step 1 in the file name to keep things clear.
3. Pick 'Binary Functions -> Migrate OSE Cal file -> pick version 1.1.1, and save to something like mytune-12p.-v1.1.1.cal
4. if your original version is v1.0.4 or newer skip to step 6.
5. If your original version was older than V1.0.4 then load the new tune in Tunerpro 5 with the v1.1.1 xdf file, and check the VE table. At version 1.0.4 this table was enlaged, and the flash tool inserts blank rows to stretch the table out to the new size. If you see rows of 0, then you need to average the values in the cells around it to make it smooth. You can do this in the text view or in the 3d view by holding control and pressing left/right/up/down to move the 3d graph around so you can see the point you need. clicking it, then pressing control plus and control - to move the point so that the graph looks smooth. you can cut and past the nearest row in text mode to get it close, but make sure you do smooth out the points as you will feel a jolt under WOT when the car hits the pasted row and the fueling is out.
5. Remove the NVRAM from the car, and flash any 12P v1.1.1 bin file too it. If using as DS1245Y NVRAM make sure you populate the right areas of the chip. Re-install in car, skip to step 7
6. Use the flash tool to upload any bin from v1.1.1 package the car. V1.0.4 and newer are designed to allow in car program updating, and the program code will be updated. When complete switch off and on the car. You are now on v1.1.1
7. Connect to the ecu, and verify the flashtool reports OSE 12 Professional, V1.1.1. Now upload the v.1.1.1 calibration you created earler.

Thats it! From here on only use the v1.1.1 XDF and ADX files from the official v1.1.1 package.

Ok, I have conected the flashtool to ecu and when i click to get cal works. saved that and then the next part stuffs me.

When It asks to load the ose cal file it takes me to my 12p folder and there is 3 cal files to pick from (from the new download)
theres one with ANPX
one with BLCD
and BLCF

which one do i pick?
Why is there 3 cal files? what are they for?

Thanks.

You need to binary functions -> migrate your own cal to version 1.1.1. Then you upload a v1.1.1 bin (that is both calibration and program area) - any of the ones in the bin dir. This is to get the right program on the nvram. Then your ecu is a v1.1.1 system. Then you upload the migrated cal to get your tune back on it.

I don't have a tune?
I am just starting from scratch and all I have is the new version of 12p v111 and just the cals etc that were in the download.
So which cal should i pick? out of the 3 cals that came with the new download?
Thanks

Ok.

I'm still stumped. I can't turn the navram into the new version 111. from 110.

When I try to send one of the brand new bins from the recent download to the nvram the error message keeps comming up:
"ATTEMPT TO V111 calibration to V110 DEVICE"

Maybe I'm confused here... Do these instruction actually make the nvram into the v111 version or does the nvram need to be sent back to do it.
I'm just trying to blank the nvram and update everything in it to v111 so i can make a new tune. can i do this or not?
I've been mucking about here in the car for an hour or so and can't seem to "get it"

Right I'm in business.

Thanks for the help.

I just opened flash tool, conected to ecu. clicked write bin and just picked the 123bar bin from new download and wrote that bin to ecu with flash tool and all done. What was confusing me was that I was thinking I had to somehow send the xdf and cal etc to the ecu to update it. I just thought the bins were like the contents of a bucket and I was thinking I had to send the empty bucket to the ecu to make it update. I was thinking the cal was the program and the bin was the info in it. ha ha. ahhh I've some to learn lol.

Cheers.
