obdlink sx world record???

Post by Kdog »

saw this

ObdLink ScanTool LX (preferred) or MX+ or SX (both slow, but they do work) - These devices are supported, however they do not support high speed / 4X communications, so a full read of a 512kb PCM will take roughly 30 minutes and mine takes 9 minutes n some change! not sure what it is cuz its about the same on a framework laptop and a msi claw lol just some fun, maybe sudz inspired!?! lol beer

Are you using the latest PCMHammer beta? That's why.
EDIT: I should read closer some times.

I think I wrote the 30 minutes but I cant remember for sure. If it was me it might have been a slight exaggeration since I didnt have real times and didnt want to waste my time on that interface or encorage people to buy one.

That sounds about right, I feel like alot of the original tests were done on a P59.
Time also varies significantly depending on the buffer size of the OBDLink tools (Varies between firmwares) and computer being used.

I think we gave up, and set them all lower now, because its not fair developers working for free were having to verify so many updates, so we just gave up and let them all run with a safe buffer size. It was either that or drop support like ls-droid did. But if someone has an older model that we validated supported larger buffer sizes back in the earlier days, they'll see some small speed increase.

That's what I would have done.
A slow and cheap flashing tool is way better than nothing.

The wiki pages were mostly written years ago, so it's possible that the app has gotten a little bit faster since then.

Or we rounded up the number of minutes, so that we don't get people asking why it took 22 minutes when the wiki said it should only take 20.
Please don't PM me with technical questions - start a thread instead, and send me a link to it. That way I can answer in public, and help other people who have the same question. Thanks!

Can it be like recommended ver/firmware info ?
Or add to settings - choose your buffer length or so ?
We will test )
