Starting VX V6 Ecotec

Post by Pikey »

Hi guys, I have no idea what I am doing here and have searched, but I am not sure what to search for.
Basically I have taken a VX V6 ecotec and wiring loom including ECM and fitted this to my holden rodeo which was a 3.2 V6.
I have had the VATS removed from the ECM and now have the three plugs that come from the engine loom and connect to the old commodore loom, but I have no idea which of the pins in these 3 plugs would need to be connected in the rodeo to allow it to start. I can use the original starter wires and this will turn it over when I turn the key, but without at least some of the wires in these 3 plugs connected it is not going to start.

Can anyone help here or is this the wrong forum to be asking this sort of question?
Clutching at straws now...

You are half way there. VATS removed yes. Those 3 plugs that normally connect to the commodore are where you will power up the ECU and injectors etc. Also fuel pump and thermo fan control will be there to. There's wiring diagrams on here for that.

But no info for the rodeo side unfortunately.

Ok, well I think I have worked out the colours of the wiring, but still doesn't appear to match most of the wiring diagrams on the forum, but it is all looking a bit blurred now, so might try again tomorrow.
I have hit a show stopper, I have everything in and complete and just have no idea which wires I need to connect.

Might be time to see if I can find an auto sparky that can work this out, what a nightmare, got all the way to the finishing line with my Rodeo v6 Ecotec conversion and fell flat on my face at the finish line.

Maybe tomorrow will bring more success
