i couldnt get avt to connect using hex terminal and i couldnt get my j2534 to connect using drewtech.

data i get from arduino looks jacked up

Avt has a special terminal that’s free and easy to use. I used that works lovely for logging has a option to store too. Mike is amazing answered all my questions. Send him in email if you need help still. He’s from avt. Or I may be able to help.

Does AVT have a J2534 driver? I've done almost all of my work with the free DrewTech bus tool. It works with anything that has a J2534 driver. It's got a few rough edges, but in general it's really good.

If you're looking for steering wheel control input, those are probably on a dedicated LIN bus rather than CAN.
Hey can you somehow send me the DrewTech bus tool download can’t find it on their site.

Try this. There are a couple newer versions, but this one seems to most stable of the ones I've tried.

At least as of 2010 this was released under the GPL. So I don't think it's a problem to post it. I even have the source code if someone wants it. I can't find any Github for DrewTech or Opus.

Looks like v1.0.26 is available on the Opus website. https://opusivs.com/support/product-downloads/ Scroll down to "Other passthrough support applications".
