Holden VT Fault Codes??

Post by L67PSI »

I am getting a constatnt air bag light on my VT dash. I clear the code and it comes straight back.

Could it be a faulty clock spring??

Codes are:
16 ABS/ETC fault logged (Cluster)
17 BCM fault logged in BCM (Cluster)
20 SDM fault logged.

Any help is appreciated.

Are the acronyms different where you are? None of that sounds like air bag.
I'd expect SRS (supplemental restraints system).
Don't know what SDM would be.
Maybe you need a fancier scanner to get the codes that are actually related to the air bag light.
Don't stress specific units.

SDM = sensing and diagnostic module. It's GMs name for SRS.

The most useless generic sounding module name I ever heard... jesus.
Don't stress specific units.

Sounds more like a wiring/plug issue or fuse. Need a Diag tool that will read more in depth of each module fault like a Vident Scan Tool or Tech2. SDM fault could be anything depending on vehicle spec from Drivers or Passenger airbag to Pre tensioner circuit on either side.
It may also be an open circuit between the SDM and BCM so will need to check for continuity between the 2 modules.
