Mother of all 7603 XDF files

They go by many names, P01, P10, P12, P59, E38, VPW, '0411 etc.

AngelMarc got it on first response, but nobody took note about it.

Maybe the way Antus added a column didn't address the omitted column of pad bytes. I imagine that's a separate line of XML to omit data from the table. Maybe those pad bytes ARE part of the continuous data in the bin. Not about to pull open a hex editor to find out.

If that is the case, where is tunerpros config to skip the padding byte in the default xdf? I must have missed it and need to remove it. Not saying its not there, but its the first time I've seen one. But also if it is just padding, then I think its better to hide it.

I found some time and looked a bit closer. I still dont see where the padding skip is in tunerpro, does anyone know why it'd skip this byte?

But I did edit a bin so that it had alternating values per row an then compared the original and changed bins so that I could see in hex if there was a padding byte, and there it is..... The unchanged 'FF' values.

I think it is to do with the stride being 2 bytes (16 bits), so the padding means the next row is on the next 16 bit boundary (and 8 bit are wasted). EG 17 columns is odd number, and the CPU is working in word mode, so the rows should align to even numbers. Perhaps a requirement for the TBLU table lookup instruction the CPU uses or maybe its faster.

The data size versus the stride.

So I think the XDF is correct, and this last row is just padding, and does nothing, so shouldn't be visible.

As an example, I tested setting stride to 0 and adding column 18. It worked. But I still don't think the XDF should be updated.

Hmm, so there's UI for this instead of XML?
"minor stride" I'll just associate that with video H blank.
Anybody trying to reverse engineer/mod code might have an easier time with that visible.

That is the tunerpro UI to edit XDFs if that is what you mean. In general it'll be used by people tuneing and they'll assume it has an effect and it does not. So I guess people are tuneing a padding byte that does nothing in HPT now, not ideal.
