Hi, can some checkout the attachment and tell me what to set to get the knock retard working.
I have taken some logs and have detected knock counts but there has been no pulling back of the timing.
From what I can see from my settings I think the "Burst Knock Retard-If RPM > Cal then zero the BKRTD" is wrong as well as the majority of other parameters are set to 0.
I want to set it up for a VR 383 stroker.

Re: Knock Sensor settings
burst knock retard is not to do with the knock sensor. I think its there to stop knock when you punch the throttle hard or somehting. you need to look at the ESC parameters - thats the knock sensor. all you can do is set the rpm limits and the coolant temp to enable retard. you cant tune it to 383 or anything, thats what the knock board on the memcal does. I know a V6 board on a v8 gives false knock readings, im not sure if the 304 knock board on a 383 will even work.

Re: Knock Sensor settings
Thanks for steering me in the right direction. I had the ESC params- Coolent temp enable on maximum.
Dropped it to 60 deg, should work now.
I know the knock filter board is designed for a standard stroke but I am hearing some pinging and the logs are showing this also. I only want to use it until I tidy up the tune enough not to warrant its use. I read somewhere that the knock sensor and filter boards are setup for cylinder diameters and not stroke. If this is the case then a V8 knock board should work ok if it does not pick up any additional interference from roller rockers etc.

Re: Knock Sensor settings
yeah if it picks up any false knock at a particular rpm, you can desensitise it a bit by adding counts in the ESC - Ignore Knock Count vs RPM table.
the stock temp enable is 40 deg I think, but yeah it should work now.

Re: Knock Sensor settings
Yeah the tuning of the knock filter is mostly related to bore size.
Also when using the NVRAM with 12P there is knock count logging which records the max knock counts so you can setup the ignore counts table easier. Its far faster than what you get while logging as you often miss the counts but see the retard/recovery after the event.
