Vp Climate control ac fan relay wiring help needed

Post by vp304 »

Hey guys Have a issue where the positive wire for the coil on relay for the front engine bay ac fan is not powering up on my vp v8 with climate control. When this happens is when my climate control unit in car does not turn on also.

Turning the car of and on the climate control unit comes back to life and the fan coil gets 12v + and the fan now works.
Yes i know all these relays are negative triggered to signal them to come on.

I have traced the wire from the back of relay base in engine bay but it dissapears into the engine bay body loom.

Im guessing this is somehow powered from the in cabin climate control unit which is playing up not powering on here and there.

Does anyone have The factory wiring diagrams for the vp climate control v8 models if different
Thanks

Looks like supplied from fuse 9 Ac will have to track down where that is

Other things I would check(if all fuses are ok) is the plug on the Climate control module or dust build up inside it.

Thanks for info vtxu8
The fuse 9 under the steering wheel column is intermittent got 2v then sometimes 12v. This supplies the climate control module I see and comes from ignition relay by the drawing maybe a loose connection somewhere

Just looking over this at moment very weird
Ignition relay which supplies the air con fuse 9 under dash
Has 12v to coil on ignition relay when keys put on tho is not energizing relay.

Have tried 3 spare relays
If I bridge ignition switch relay power wires climate control has power on it and powers up.

Only thing I can see is with ignition of the ignition relay pin 87 and fuse 9 for air con have 2.5v on them maybe some kinda feedback of something else

Weird. Really sounds like a bad earth on the coil side somewhere. Check the diagram below and look at "Warning lamp check relay"(it's a 5 pin changeover relay) as well as Rear Demister Switch. As for 2.5v on relay pin 87 and fuse 9 with ignition off could indicate a short(not a dead short) on the positive feed side.

Just have a check of the wiring in relation to that “check warning lamp relay”.
I could be wrong but my understanding is that it turns off all accessories when cranking.
But if you don’t have the relay fitted, you won’t get power to the blower fan etc.

Dont know if makes any difference but mine is a vp calais so has bcm and climate. Il check it out tomorow but i think it maybe slightly different wiring than that pdf above
Its intermittent the issue sometimes climate works which means the cooling fan works. I am using the cooling fan relay to run a fg thermo fan . So if climate dont turn on in car i know the hi speed on my fg fan wont work as its using the factory condensor fan relay to trigger hi speed on the fg fan
