Hey
As above what I want to know is how everyone has their Bench Flashing setup configured,
Ive bought a generic bench setup off Aliexpress (intend to modify anyway) its single plug pre wired to a obd port even has a plug pack which will get binned was the most cost effective way to get the plugs really.
Is there any risk using just the blue plug? Is 12.0volts ok?? I use a computer power supply with my other Flashing tasks its been absolutely rock solid doing Delco's for my commodore.
Are P59 AND P01 Pinned differently
If you can shed some light please do.

This is my Delco setup i intend to hook in to the same power supply so I can chop and change as I need to between different Pcms.

I've always got my connectors from the wreckers and make them up as required. I use a proper adjustable power supply set at 12.7V
The only one I bought was an LS one from ebay and the aftermarket connector to the PCM is a piece of shit.

Hi Gareth
Im in NZ if you want connectors your paying for the whole loom as v8 stuff never makes it to pick a part if it does the loom is gone. Ive got a full loom but want to keep it intact if I have to I'll depin and use the plugs if the ali ones total garbage. Worth a try.

No you only need to connect the one with power and data. You do want a switch on the ignition, even if you just use something like a spade connector between the power and the ignition, so that you can do things like a vin change and simulate ignition off and let the PCM run its shutdown to persist the change to flash. All of the PCMs that have that connector have VPW an Power and Ignition in the same pins so you can use it for P01 P59 P04 P08 E54 and some of the other early American ones that are a rounded case but still have the same connector. 12v is considered to be too low. You may get lucky but even it works it can be unreliable and cause bricks. It's worth getting a lab power supply which you can set the voltage and for the price point you can get one with current limiting as well. This is good for general electronic work because you can set it to say 1amp max and if you power something that is broken it can stop it letting the smoke out and give you a chance to fix whatever the problem is. You should be able to get something like that for about $50 delivered on aliexpress. You can also use a car battery that will give you a good ~12.5 volts. Did get this working bought an Aliexpress unit then pulled it to bits and rebuilt it was cheapest way to get all the plugs.
