Want to run a carby on my WH statesman…
Is there a way of setting up ecu to still manage spark curve and gearbox
Was thinking if not a MSD 6014 ignition controller which will sort spark management
Then how to set ecu for gearbox management (tps map/) tach output (square wave) from MSD unit
Also setup input for a fuel flow sensor for trip computer
Hopefully someone on here has the know how

connect the inputs it needs, dont connect the outputs you dont have. set it to 'not process' error codes that come up. It'll think its running the fuel, but just wont be.
Note intake air temp is in the maf and maf wont be there so you probably need an external air temp sensor and a mafless tune to delete the maf.

Oh you’re right… a mafless tune would be the go
Think the go is to retain ecu get it mafless tuned then get that code done
It’d be the most seamless setup…
Only thing to figure out is to get a fuel flow sensor (to carby) for trip meter… - will look into sensor outputs (most likely a pulse out per X ml)
It’s nice to find ppl who know this stuff n not create drama

As antus said mafles tune but my guess you then need to use a map sensor and a TPS to allow the tune to have sufficient inputs. Someone may have a basic start tune for what your doing.

Definitely… will certainly be retaining MAP sensorCharlescrown wrote: Sat May 02, 2026 7:02 am As antus said mafles tune but my guess you then need to use a map sensor and a TPS to allow the tune to have sufficient inputs. Someone may have a basic start tune for what your doing.
Have bought a remote (cable connected) TPS that will connect to carby throttle assembly

you'll get a fuel signal because it'll think its driving injectors but you'll need your fuel setup half right to get the meter to move believably compared to what the carbie is really doing.

Yeah.. the setup retains the original fuel pump with a pressure regulator (bypass type - return to tank) that’s set to 5psi - which goes to carburettor… which I was going to place a flow sensor… (this setup was done in the earlier carby VH/VK/VL commodore that had a factory trip computer
Was aiming to get an accurate fuel consumption with this

if you tune it so the pcm would be injecting the right fuel then your read would be right but also you might as well be injecting fuel and have propper PE and all that.
