Interesting read. It's this sort of stuff that makes me hopeful that we'll see some massive scientific breakthroughs in the foreseeable future. It seems possible to me that we may see AI come up with something fundamentally world changing, like the ability to bend space time and teleport around the universe within the next 20 years. Maybe that is a bit of a stretch, but also, maybe by using reasoning from different fields combined in a way that humans tend not to, and with the biggest, most knowledgeable and trained AIs with specialist knowledge it could or will become actually able do that? The field is moving so fast!

Very cool.
I've been discussing AI with the Mrs lately. We're both looking forward to shopping for domestic assistance humanoid's at Harvey Norman within the next 10 years.

Can't wait to see a nail gun/chainsaw equipped humanoid being sold as a handy man (or assassin depending how you look at it?)

Yep, the "why is the AI doing the creative things instead of the tasks around the household I don't want" rings true!

Good to see AI been used for what it was intended instead of making public servants redundant even though our finance minister doesn't actually know how it's going to do so.

Yeah the creative work that is termed AI slop is one that drives me nuts, but the true applications like scientific discovery acceleration I am very much in support of.
AI in the medical research is especially promising, we have been stuck on problems for decades with no leads in sight on some conditions and diseases, and many are starting to see huge progress now.
I really hope they also put it to use on trying to find ways to reverse medicine induced injuries where mainstream medical research mostly brushes aside with one big reason being the too hard basket. Science owes it to those who have suffered as a result of lack of scientific understanding causing that harm in the first place, as well as just mistakes. That's the thing that makes science, science, to build upon mistakes or lack of understanding and AI will be a good tool for that.

Yeah medicine is looking huge. I saw this one a few months ago. Quite a story! https://theconversation.com/a-man-used- ... ion-278735

Yeh AI analysis of large datasets via Quantum computing is the future i think. We need to work on analysing things.
