Having issues reading from nvram

Post by KBGaming69 »

Hi all, recently bought an pcm nvram loaded with the1's vt vx s/c enhanced bin, and would like to change the os to an n/a vt
Have it hooked up to a t48 software ver v13.16 with a mrmodule 32pin adapter, and have successfully read and flashed a few standard memcals but the bin files i read from the nvram opened in tuner pro are all jumbled - using The1's VT VX S/C Enchanced XDF, and using memcal id tool shows 'file unknown'.
Not sure if i have missed a setting in the programmer software or anything but any help is appreciated cheers

The screenshot shows blank (all FF).

You'll need the RW jumper fitted to program the NVRAM

The better option is to remove the NVRAM IC and put it directly in the ZIF socket of your programmer. Be careful removing it as the legs are easy to bend / break off.

I have the jumper installed on the RW pins as well as the VT pins
Assuming i would have to desolder the ic to remove it?

The NVRAM should be installed in a socket, you shouldn't have to desolder it

I dont think the ds1245y and the 27c chip from factory have the same pinouts. You do need to remove the DS1245y and put it direct in the programmer to write it. If you tried to access it with some kind of adapter and still had ds1245y selected you probably put signals down the wrong pins and erased it.

Carefully remove the nvram from the socket (it's easy to bend and damage the very fine pins, especially the last one when it suddenly frees and pops out) and program it as a DS1245Y direct in the programmer.

Also part of the operating system area is full time write protected in the pcm nvram board as well, so thats another reason it cant work via an adapter too.
