Rich Idle $12p 304
Hey All! Having trouble getting a 304 thats on $12p that we have in to idle at a decent afr, just want to make sure im not missing anything in the tune or i should be chasing something mechanical. Has 0280155968 injectors, timing has been checked and has 28* on idle. Just cant get it to idle at anything less then 11.0 and if i do really lean out the idle part of the VE table it runs away lean and stalls. It also cranks slow when hot so im leaning towards a bad coil or similar! I have attached a few photos and the tune. Thanks in advance as this ones really doing my head in

Why 28° timing at idle? Try taking some out.

Tried that, made it stall. I think it’s going to be a spark issue! Just too weak on idle or something

28 degrees is up there.
Does the timing match up with a timing light?
And cam timing right? Or is the compression stock?

Re: Rich Idle $12p 304
28 is nothing unusual, a larger cam than stock can be anywhere from 24-32 deg from what I have seen and experienced, especially with stock or lower comp than the cam actually wants, results in even higher timing.
If it wants 28, give it 28. Brindo has a point, the timing could be offset due to the dizzy or something. Not uncommon on any engine that runs a dizzy for EFI, but still, 28 is not crazy by any means.

Re: Rich Idle $12p 304
Have checked static timing with diagnostic mode and is at 10°, but haven’t checked it with it out of diagnostic mode so could be doing something weird I guess! Not sure on cam timing or compression, car come just for a tune (always the case) and it’s doing all types of weird shit only on idle, was just trying to rule out something in the tune that I might have missed as the flu has kicked my ass the last couple of days and I’m not thinking straight

Also could be injector dead times are wrong. That'll be most noticable at short pulse widths.
