Is it possible to transfer tune in navram to a memcal

Post by V8hilux »

Can the tune from ose12p v111 be sucked from my car and uploaded to a normal memcal?

I have a willem GQ4X and wondered if I could run the car on the same tune but by putting everything onto a eeprom?

If so, what sort of eeprom would i need and how to do it?
I would just have the memcal as a spare in the car in case anything ever happened to my navram and I could just chuck the memcal back in.

I already have a socket soldered into a vp memcal, it was from a vr I think and a fellow called greenfoam from another forum sent it to me ages ago.

Just wanted to try to use the programer for something, I bought it brand new and never used it or know how. :)
Thanks

Yeah it runs fine on a memcal - just no VE learn or knock count logging. Use a 32k (27c256) or larger EPROM (and offset it to suit) - the VR one greenfoam did should be suitable, will be either 32k or 64k depending if man or auto.

So does that just mean if i have a 32k eeprom.

I just sit it in the programer furthest away from me and little dot away then what?

Do I just press burn? what file on my pc would I upload so everything works.. as in what part of my bin or xdf or cal or def or blcf thing would i burn to the chip.

What does offset mean? you said to offset it?? Whats that.

You need to erase the chip with a UV eraser fist and make sure it passes a 'blank check'. Use VL400s flashtool to 'get bin' from the car and put the resulting 32k file on the chip. Ive not used the GQ-4x software but generally you'd erase the chip, select the chip type in the burning software, mount the chip in the burner, blank test, if ok write, then verify. Then stick some tape over the window on the chip to stop light getting in. It takes a long time for natural UV light to erase the chip, but dont give it a chance :)

That sounds easier enough thanks, I'll try to get an eraser and have a go.

Thanks.

I have some more questions about something else but others might want to know as well so i will post a new thread.
