delco to 202 no spark

Post by tez7171 »

Hi all, i have been converting my 202 to delco the same as holden202t's post how to convert a 202 to Delco viewtopic.php?t=4 with the only difference i am using a hei coil. Got it all connected up but cant get any spark from it. I am using a vn harness and have connected the dizzy wiring on the camira HEI as follows

4 pin connector
A to B3 black/red wire
B to D5 tan/black
C to B5 white/violet
D to D4 White

2 pin connector to HEI
A to + on coil
B to - on coil
power to + on coil

I have the blue LED on the NVram so i assume its working. I can connect to the 808 via the usb comms board but dont see anything, i assume its because i havent got it going yet.
Any help would be much appreciated

blue led means 'map a'. most people are on map a, so therefore it also means power. if you key off, it should stay lit up for a couple of seconds as the nvram goes through shutdown. if it goes out straight away then the software contents on the nvram is broken.
having said that, spark is automatic at 10 degrees static until the ECM sends the 'bypass'' signal, and when it does the module runs the coil from the EST signal. If you have the ignition module powered, but do not connect the bypass line, then you should get static 10 degrees spark when cranking from the ignition system. This is a good test to make sure the trigger and power are good between the engine and the module. If you get spark like that, then next look to the ECM and check and RPM signal. But as I said you should be able to get spark just from the power, trigger signal, ignition module and coil.

The blue LED does stay on for a few seconds once the power is removed. I will try disconnecting the HEI bypass output (D5) and see if i get a spark when cranking. Does the wiring i have done look correct?

Thanks for your help, out of my depth here

certainly P N, and A B C D. The 2 pin to coil, not sure about that camira coil, but I think yes A to coil + and B to coil ground. And I think its saying coil+ to power as well. Note the ground from the back of the module too, I think that needs to exist too, through the bolt holes.

Your diagram is a bit misleading with the labeling of A and B. I can't understand why the A and B swap their labels from the 2 pin module at the module to the coil + and - so work off the Camira module A and B.The 2 pin plug at the Camira module terminal A is definitely the Coil positive and is pink in colour so run your full 12 volt from the ignition to that terminal. Don't know what car it's going in so check it's 12 volts not 9. 9 volts it will run like shit. I usually use the old ignition (coil positive) to trigger a relay which switches full battery voltage to the coil positive. The terminal B again at the module is the coil negative and also used as a tacho signal.

Found the problem, it was a dodgy 2 pin connector plug on the BIM148 module. Fixed it up and now have spark. Now to get the fuel side working. When I power up the 808 the fuel pump comes on for a couple of seconds so that seems good, will check if the injectors are working. Close to starting it now. Its going into an EK, i have full 12v to the coil, it used to have electronic ignition

Thanks for your help
