E38 - Custom Mod Time

Post by Tre-Cool »

Something i started on a few weeks ago with our buddy Claude & managed to test a few in my cars this week when i was home.

Rev Matching Down shifts for Manual Cars - Tested & works
don't need to do a throttle stab on decel under braking anymore, ecu uses similar runtimes as the automatics use to do rev matching down shifts. Mostly useful for track events, but works well on the street too.
Obviously it needs good/correct idle air flow tables in the tune.

Stationary Launch Control / 2 Step - Tested & works
Clutch, Brake, Hardwire Input activated

Moving Launch Control / Rolling Anti-lag - Tested & works
Uses cruise control or hardwired input to activate, latches to either roadspeed or engine rpm, setup in calibration. Handy for Roll / "street" racing turbo cars to get up on boost.

Boost Control - Multi Boost Map - Still to fully test in car, have tested mac valve duty cycle on bench.
Control Mac valve by re-using evap solenoid control, Additional Spark Maps to retard ignition timing based on Manifold Pressure (same map also used to retard timing when nitrous armed)

Wideband Closed Loop Fueling in Power Enrichment & Safeties (Requires next mod to work)
-Still to test on running car, but works on the bench. I can read back Lambda data via ecu ram PID in efilive
Wideband_CL.png
Canbus or Analog Wideband Input
Data comes in by renumbering an existing unused Can mailbox, telling it what to listen for etc.

CAN data modifications:
Changed the map broadcast data from using a .5 to 1 multiplier so that map no longer maxes out at 127.5kpa, so its now doubled to 255kpa, needed this for my PWM fuel pump controller.
Launch Control status & Trans-brake Bump status sent to TCM to use for engaging Trans-brake function in the 6L80 (Yes all done in software) :-).

6L80E Trans-brake Function
Triggers off ECU's Launch control feature, with additional Bump feature to do momentary release

Oh & 24x/1X & 24x/4X Crank/Camshaft support..

I've also got similar ecu mods converted for the E40 ecu too.

Winning! Is this a closed patch or do you plan to release it?

not fully decided just yet. no real point in releasing anything until i know everything works as intended across a few different operating systems.

I have it ported across the following os's already:
Year OS Status
2007–2008 12612381 ✅ full stack
2008.5–2009 12624402 ✅ full stack
2009.5 12633016 ✅ full stack
2010 12635863 ✅ full stack
2011 12639270 ✅ full stack - my VE/VY ute use this
2012 12653249 ✅ full stack -my C6 Corvette uses this

I have a functioning license gate for everything, was something else i wanted to test.

I'm currently working on a small 5" display that can deliver the mods & allow you to change the new custom maps/selections choices. This way end user can make changes without having to go back to the tuner all the time. Also doubles as input device to transmit can data & gauge screen.
