I did test with powerpcm 0006 for e38, connected e38 download my OS with Cal, saved file

Then loaded another OS with Cal, then did Cal only Upload and it soft-bricked E38

Then had to use recovery to load my original OS and Cal to bring it Back

Ive made sure in T43 APP that this can not happen with enrollment process, you cant load another Cal and soft-brick.

This was also talked about in another t43 thread here, where guy had to guess what OS they loaded and use a similar to bring
it back to life.

Ive got TCMs on way from states for early OS and Newer.

Two OS that are loaded in APP where in my daily drivers, Ive tested and confirmed them with no issues

There was no need to test Recovery part, but this will be covered in full release :typist:

Sure you can use Hp tuners and efilive and you soon be able to do everything with T43 APP

Fully recommend watching Hp Tuners youtube clip on how to tune your T43 with my XDF or your similar.

Ill post link to that youtube clip soon :driving:

This is off topic and needs its own thread

Also in process of modified E38 OS with 8HP70 Custom OS so they can talk natively

With out man in middle, Converter box for canbus. these are now obsolete.

How many would like to forget about 4L60 & 6L80 and have 8 speed 8HP70 in there hotrod :D

When you say "boot blocks", is this your kernel/boot loader?

Just for the record mismatching OS and Cal is a very risky move. It is possible that segment swaps can sometime be done between certain OSs, but for a random segment swap you can expect a brick. I think the problem was you mismatched the os and the cal, not the write process. That tool is not able to change OS, though PCM Hammer (development build) can. I just wanted to keep the record straight, now I'll tap out of this thread and leave it on topic for the title application.
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

Thanks Antus if you want ill remove test i did with other ecu so there`s no confusion, i dont want this to sound misleading. Let me know !

It was just a test and wasn't a segment swap, just need to test what could happen if someone could make same mistake,

And implement a validation to T43 so this couldn't happen here.

Something happened in another T43 thread when i find that thread i post back here. Ill repeat it was just a test :study:

Only way to learn to fix something is to break it :comp:

When you say "boot blocks", is this your kernel/boot loader?
It's closer to a temporary RAM reader helper—sometimes called a "read kernel" in flashing tools. The existing loader starts it, and it reads memory without erasing or programming flash. It isn't a kernel in the OS sense or a replacement bootloader. “Boot Block” is just the display name we gave it in the app

Yes read Kernel

Thanks for bin OS i found there was around 6 OS in that early Tcm module, working through all them soon.

2423726, 24237685, 24239353, 24240291, 24248859, 24243170. And you are right can not be flashed to later Tcms

just waiting on early Tcm to turn up, and ill check if read kernel work or ill make a new one to suit :driving:

So its my Rapid-Fire writer helper, the temporary RAM-resident programming kernel. It erases and writes the calibration area, separate from the read-only helper, and it doesn’t replace the TCM’s factory bootloader or write its operating system. I just call it BootBlock

Just to further BootBlock, I have the unfiltered version that you can change OS and doesn't rely on my verification. Thats how that came about, just left name in.
