There was a pre-measurement between the pintle and the body of the IAC that needed to be set before it went back into the t/body.It was something like 28mm but i have to check in the VN w/shop manual to make sure.

Yeah, I wondered about how far to wind it into the motor before installing it. I just had it clicking itself in until the spring was almost binding and went with that.

Then I set the max steps back to 196 so hope it is about right. I think the depth of the hole in the come manifold is a little shorter than the depth of the holden throttle body.

I have taken the iac through all 196 steps and it hasn't seemed to bind, the motor was changing revs with each step in both directions so hope i have it.

I couldn't believe how small those wires were, they didn't even have plastic on them, just that insulating varnish stuff i suppose. you had to have the unit almost back together and had to try to get the soldering iron in to this small gap to get at em, I had the soldering iron in my mouth, and working 2 small watchmakers screwdrivers with my hands and using the soldering iron to heat one of the screwdrivers to melt the solder to get em. lol.

Cheers,

now you just need to adjust the butterfly so you go 20-30 steps at warm idle and it should pretty well take care of everything else for you!
