Re: custom tunning
thanks holden202,
i know how to get ride of it just wasn't sure if it was needed for tp5,but about to find out, another Q ,in tp5 if i want to change something do i do that in "edit difinition" or by simply clicking onto the left side parameter listings, also i was doing some work at a mates workshop, they had a vn 5l getting a simple set of springs fitted ,apon start up it lost spark and all ecu output,a guy from the holden dealership cam with his secret squirell code scaner and reset something ,we weren't allowed to watch,my question is if i had the capabilities to connect to the ecu would i have been able to scan the ecu with tp5 and reset whatever fault code was logged, cheers

Re: custom tunning
hahahahaha theres no big secret, he just wanted to make himself feel important LOL, a tech1 on a vn/vp cant reset codes, it can just listen to a basic datastream thats one way from ecu to scantool, the scantool cant send any commands to the vn/vp ecm coz its not listening and is one way. DTC reset is remove battery power
it would have been wiring problem / rooted ecu / memcal.
two way comms and faster datastream came in on vr/vs

Re: custom tunning
Did you know that unless the ecu is totally stuffed you can get the car to flash out the error codes (no tool required), by shorting a couple of the pins on the aldl connector and counting the flashes on the check engine light?
See the 'flashing error codes' section here:
http://www.techedge.com.au/vehicle/aldl160/vn_aldl.htm
If its a standard boring 808 ecu without upgraded comms capability then this is a good way to check what circuit or sensor you should check first.

Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

Re: custom tunning
thanks for all the replys
i can't honestly say what he did because we were ushered away, said it was so we didn't distract his concentration so did not see what was done ,i can say he did have a small hard case ,sat in the passenger side fidled on the floor then under the bonnet ,spent most time there and when he was finished the car started, before they called him the basics were checked ,fuses relays etc but no banana,i used to work for racq and do know the basic fault finding proceedures but i arrived when the tech was allready summoned, shouldn't judge but he did come across as a big TOOL ,but then in that instance he was smarter than the others because he got the car started, just letting us watch woul;d not have lost him any work but gained him more respect ,the guy who owns the place always calls a tech when there are efi issues and probably always will ,but i guess the lttle man sindrome is hard to overcome, thanks for all the tech info ,i will now add that to my study list, but i did want to know in tp5 if i want to alter a tune do i edit definition and then save or do i do it by clicking onto the parameter item? cheers

Re: custom tunning
You will want to edit the parameter under the scalars, flags or table headings. There is a tutorial for the US LT1 engine that may help .. http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-m ... orial.html
The tutorial is based on the a different vehicle but the same principles apply, use the XDF to tell TunerPro where items are in the bin and how to display them and the bin for editing. And then the ADX to tell TP how to log data from the ECU. Once you have followed the LT1 tute try the same with say 12P.

Great link Ryan. Any ideas on how I may be able to incorporate the Night dash from this bloke into my dash? I downloaded the attached EE auto. ADX yet have no clue how to make it work in my TP. Is it possible at all or do I need to build it from scratch due to incompatibilities between his and my format?

Re: custom tunning
Would be best to start with the 12P ADX and edit the definition in TP. Can either change the current dash to display whatever you want or make a totally new one in your ADX - can have as many different dash layouts as you want. The night one just has different colours, can change colours to whatever you want.

Re: custom tunning
The default TP dash is pretty awesome as is. Just would be cool to customize it more. So much to learn
