@charlay86:

Yea it idles really well with the stock tune. I will try what you've suggested and see how that goes. Ive read Holden202's doco a few times now...I hate to sound stupid but im still trying to wrap my head around it to be honest. (Hence the reason for my silly questions)

@Delcowizzid

Totally understand what your saying, VL400 said the same thing to me, unfortunately I don't have a Wideband O2, which I understand is a must have if you want to tune yourself, and am not really in a position to afford one and then install. Im also missing a knock sensor on my memcal so would be a bit nervous about changing too much without really understanding things....which im super keen to do, but would really like to get half decent tune running on the ute first, and then I can play at my leisure.

I guess im also reluctant to let the money go that I spent on the mail order tune, the ute did have a very good power gains when running the tune....just idled waaaaay to high for my liking.(apart from being a 5d tune)

About 2 1/2 weeks ago the tuner did agree to send me a 12p tune with the idle fixed (Although no contact since), so am reluctant to give out names just yet.

I really do appreciate your replies guys!! Thanks very much!

Ok, going by your doco, thats the "Run A/F Param - Displacement/inj flow rate" scalar

Its .14 Grams / sec in the 5d tune and .15 Grams / sec in the 12p tune, should I correct this you think ?

Im running 280 150 973 injectors if that helps.

i don't know that a difference of that much will be enough to cause issues.

the higher the number (.15 ->) the richer it will make the engine so if anything the $12P tune should run richer ......

BUTTTTT..... if there are differences in the VE tables then this will offset that aswell.

usually to get a nice idle you need to have it rich enough, with the same timing at idle in the main and idle spark tables!

Well, with a few more tweaks, it still hunts all over the place until the temp gets to about 70c, and then evens out (ish) again ok.

When driving, its ok until I coast....at which point it basically just drops rev's until it stalls, if you blip the idle to save it, once you stop, it still slowly hunts....

After getting the shits, I uploaded the std tune again and went for a drive, even with the idle set at 675, it doesn't have any of the usual symptoms, its just a pity its soooooo gutless, poor thing has almost no hope of turning 35" tyres, let alone being able to do anything fancy offroad.

Ive uploaded the latest version of my tune, plus the with it (Drive 1) and then the drive with the std tune (drive 3) Apologies for the length of the logs..

Im honestly thinking that I simply don't have the aptitude to figure this out yet. Can anyone recommend someone, or be interesting in doing a 'remote' live tune ? Im thinking that I could basically just plug the 3G dongle into the lappy, which in turn would be hooked up to the car, and it could be done remotely with teamviewer / rdp.

can you upload the standard tune your using and confirm for me the one in the above post is the one thats hunting and stalling when pulling up ?

also please post the $5D bin or if your not keen to post it public send it in a pm
does the standard one stall at pull up ?

i'm willing to try and help out with some logs and such but i don't think you'll find to many people who will tune over a 3g dongle :P

especially without a wideband!

Heres the std 12p ive been using. The only change that I have been doing to it, is to change the desired idle down to 675 (I do it in the live tuning, but don't save it to the downloaded bin)

Except for the fact it doesn't quite have enough power to break inertia, the std tune runs great, doesnt hunt or stall etc, there's a 'tiny' bit of hiccup when I change gear sometimes if I wanted to be picky.

I thought the 3G idea was fantastic, hehe on a Telstra dongle in a good coverage area, Id love to try it. But...yes your right I dont have a O2...although its starting to seem like even it may be worth me getting in trouble with the missus and getting one :)

Oh, and just incase anyone's interested, heres the ute in question....

And its new heart...

1 - stock 12p from ute-holden202.bin
try this one first.

2 - stock 12p from ute-holden202.bin
try this one if the first one hunts at idle.
