Haha yeah, long day at work, brain fade... Guess it was fairly obvious pretty quick and got there in the end at least.

ahaha, yea...Im right there with ya mate! Work does that too ya sometimes!

Im sure ppl are going to get sick of me uploading versions of this tune...but heres one that I corrected the ppk in and then turned on the Narrow band VE learning thingo (Thanks VL400!)...and then went for a small drive. Its changed quite a few points I think...and when I use the difference tool on it, it has a heap of "Item Not Defined" Addresses in there.....weird...

If I leave the 'learn' running, do you think it will eventually get all the VE stuff pretty much right ? Or will it stuff the tune completely ?

Actually that made me remember another thing...When doing 100km/h it never gets into closed loop mode, when doing 70 etc it does and you can see the VE Learn switch on too. Im guessing this is because the ute is putting the engine under more load at 100km/h that it would normally experience so isnt reaching that 'sweet spot' needed to engage closed loop. Does this sound right to you guys, or am I barking up the wrong tree ?

I see there's a few scalars related to closed loop, and almost all of them confuse me :)

well i did a rough calc and i got 3400 ppk so there you go :comp:

narrowband ve learn will work but it might take a while - i'd suggest reseting the ecm by removing power from it for 10 minutes or so, then disable ve learn and do a few logs and use the blm converter spreadsheets to update it, you will get the fuelling closer alot quicker than using ve learn.

however if you are going somewhere and can't use blm logging then just enable it and it will do it for you atleast a bit.

oh and don't forget to suck the cal out before you change anything!

it looks like the comparison has shown fariyl major changes in some spots so the fueling is obviously out a bit

also note, nothing will be changed in the WOT areas you really need to do that manually with logging and tweaking.

one thing i thought about after i posted was get your engine up to temperature and then make sure your IAC is on about 15-20 steps at idle - not sure if that will be causing any stalling issues or anything but it should be set right, as it might be causing some of the high rpm coast stuff too.

Its probably not going into closed loop at 100kmh because the commanded afr is not 14.7 at this load /rpm.Have a look at your afr table.
Also there is a command that you can send to the ecm to reset blms ,but i cant remember what it is.

Yea im heading out for the weekend and most weekends during winter, that's why i was panicing a little tying to get a drivable vehicle.(Thanks sooooo much for the help so far!) So ill leave the VE Learn running for now and see what happens...

Im not sure how to adjust the idle to make sure there is 20 IAC steps, ive basically been adjusting the idle screw up slowly until the IAC has 0 (or close to) steps. Should I just wind it out until it reads 20 steps ?

Im guessing that the idle A/F map isn't being triggered during coasting, so would that still point to the main VE map being stuffed ? I might go and log it during lunch.

Hrrmm, most of the "Map A: A/F Ratio - 20-100kPa Air Fuel ratio vs RPM and MAP" is set to 14.7 except for 90+ kPA. Ill log that too at lunch and see if I can find where in the AFR map its looking at.

if you have 0 steps at idle thats probably half the reason its so up to shit .... you need to get it warmed up and at running temperature (80 degrees or more) and then wind the screw on the throttle body out till the iac steps on the laptop is about 15-20

this will help alot with cold starting rpms aswell as at times when you back off and put the clutch in etc

don't worry if it seems to rev higher at time for a while, it will take a bit of time for the ecm to learn what it needs, but it should atleast stop it from stalling.

also if you can get a log of it warming up that would be handy, i'd be interested to see where the AFR's are as from what your saying that its ok once it warms up but hunts when cold it might just need more fuel when warming up, and that can be easily fixed by AFR v's coolant table.

i have found alot of cammed motors need more fuel at idle aswell as more when colder (more choke effectively)

but you really need to get the IAC set properly then worry about playing with that stuff, my suggestion, get the IAC how i said above, then let it get cold and do a cold start log and we'll go from there.

ps. i just realised that the basic tuning guide doesn't cover setting IAC steps at idle so i will add that to it!

Ok, Ill set the idle up properly today and get another warmup log sorted.

So should I go back the the 1st tune you uploaded for those tests ?

i'd leave it how it is, the main changes in the two tunes is VE table, and being that the ve learn has already started tweaking it i'd leave it as is!
