Crap....Oh well, I wont post up the last couple of logs then :)

It was weird...I couldn't re-upload the bin that had been altered by the VE-learn stuff.

Ill redo a log once the ute cools down, most likley in the morning...saying that when I start it this morning, it seemed to run pretty well. So theres a chance it could be ok now until I get the wideband and REALLY stuff it up :)

In regards to tuning with a wideband, it seems like you basically have to alter the VE until the actual A/F = Target A/F....But, how do you work out your target A/F ? With a petrol is it supposed to be 14.7 no matter what ? Unless its WOT in which case your not shooting for perfect A/F but the most torque ? Im hunting for a V8 Knock sensor memcal so I cant tune WOT without the dyno, but its not looking good.

Its in the data stream, look at the monitor views when logging, and right click in one of the monitors and turn the clutter off, and turn target afr and wideband afr on. Assuming they are both set to the range of 10-20 AFR (I think I set this up the last adx that was released with ose v111?) then the lines should be pretty much over the top of each other. The ecu will take temperature and so fourth in to account, but you'll see the difference between what its decided is the target under those conditions and whats actually happening.

On a dyno and watch torque or on the road use accel rate to adjust timing - overlay graphs to see if the accel rate increases with small timing changes. TP cant overlay graphs so would need to export it to something like excel, I used Innovate motorsports logworks and it was really easy to do, but need a Innovate wideband for that.

you dont need a knock sensor you can use your ears or even build a set of knock ear headphones and listen for knock .also ve learn you need to hold steady state cruise pattern in your cells as it takes around 3 seconds to start adjusting the ve table so every 3 seconds it adjusts the after another 3 seconds it adjusts just driving through the table wont do much

just on the subject of knock sensor/ knock detection,
i found this knock light at about $200 with sensor plus shipping, may be handy but if you can tune without it may be of little use

most knock lights are shit LOL unless its tuned to your engine you wont get it displaying real knock.better off just listening for it directly with a mic and amp and headphones ant just bought his amp and headphones to make his knock ears costs about 10 bucks to make

yeah just had a bit more of a look around and they are supposed to be shit, and even factory ones are not as good as what tuners use on the dyno.
found this site http://autospeed.com.au/cms/article.html?&A=0353
look very easy to do it that way
