Re: custom tunning
Yes, but for the most part you can consider it 'behind the scenes'. Just hit the 'aquire data' button (with the blue arrows) once everything is set up and your car is connected and with the key in the on/run position, and hit it again to stop. Hit the red record button that lights up while data is flowing to start recording and hit it again to stop logging and save.

Re: custom tunning
Mode 1message 0
Asks the ecu for sensor info and outpu values
Basically the values used by the ecu to operate the engine
The message is a one time pass. Tuner pro loops the command to gain a continous data steam.
This gets passed to the dash, realtime log and record log.
Allows the dash to continually update.

Re: custom tunning
sorry i havn't posted thank yous for everyones replies but had a little health scare but i'm back, anyway from what all of you have told me the message 0 is in simple terms the comunication between tp5 and the ecu,so in fact there is nothing that we change or request through this part of tp5 this is all part of the operating system, have i got this right? Now i have another question,i am about to start quoting a job on a vs ,now i want to know how you guys approach a tunning job like this,do you run the vehicle up first and start modifying the maps to suite or do you do some mods in anticipation of the first run and try to anicipate what you think will be needed, when i build a carby i build it with a fuel curve in mind but thats a carburetor how do you guys approach an efi set up?cheers

PS i got my " designing and tunning hp fuel injection systems" today and very happy with the info it provides also has some awsome formula's great advice, cheers

Re: custom tunning
Its a custom operating system based on factory $12 code. Disassembled the factory bin, made lots of mods to the code and recompiled into a bin again - all the extra features/changes from a factory bin are in the first post of the 12P thread .. https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=356

Re: custom tunning
thanks vl 400 ,
mate i am about to make an offer on a vn which will be my test bench and to be honest am petrified of stating to play, so i just wanted to make sure that when i start i will be close to what was on the ecu to start with ,i can see all of the mods you guys made but they all look like added functions not mods to the actual tune of the original ,am i on the right track?

Re: custom tunning
Yes you are. The bins included are equivalent to the factory calibrations so you can put one on the car and drive away. But once you modify the car how ever you want (forced induction, hardware such as cams etc, sensors like wideband o2, or bore out the engine, change the intake or exhaust, add any kind of device that needs switching, run alternate fuels, more or different thermo fans - whatever you want) $12p is greatly improved so that its possible for you to reprogram it handle it. The factory bin as it comes from holden can be modified to some extent (change the normally aspirated fuel and spark maps), but cant do high speed comms or most the other great things $12p can.

Re: custom tunning
buy a dead stock vn v6 or close to stock and you will only really need to mess with 2 tables main spark advance and the VE table its easy as cake mate just dont change more than one thing at a time .just add timing in the 100kpa colomn low rpm ereas upto 3600ish and you will notice a hell difference add some ve in the same place .the ve table is just like jets for all rpm and map ranges .all the AE functions are the same as the accelerator pump shot you can set how much it squirts and how fast it stops squirting ie how fast it decays the pump shot fuel out it really is no different than a carby and dizzy and a heap of jets and springs but you have way finer control
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem
