realtime hardware

Post by sprattzvx »

Hi all. Im new to dh great site great info.
Well im gonna start peering into my pcm workings and later start tuning some basics. So i have a usb interface cable coming from vl400 and tunerpro5 unreg version, along with the vx s/c def file, so if i register tp5 i shoud have full logging, is this correct?
also ive been told by a clever fellow that to actually rt tune ill need w/b af and nvram, real time enabled ecu. The w/b is a no brainer, however im not informed rgards rt ecu, nv ram.
So theres heaps of nvram on ebay, which type should i get?
And where can i get a real time ecu?
I was under the impression i could emulate using a bin on laptop, save changes and flash memcal.
What do i use to flash the memcal. Yea its all new to me but ill get there.
When constantly modding i think you MUST learn to tune.

With the comms interface thats on the way you can log data with the unreg version of TP5. However its prob the best value software around so well worth registering it to remove the 10 second startup nag.

Have a read of the getting started guide in my signature, has answers to pretty much all your questions.

well thanks to some help from vl400 ive got tp5rt up and running for logging at this stage. its a great functio, however im having problems getting a consistent clean log or even 10 seconds lots of erratic gauge bouncing around. is there a filter for chatter/interference?
cheers,
ken

Yea mate thats the one im using(vx eng tans), tried both but no good, also tried changing com ports. I can sometimes get 10 15 seconds of excellent data but then its gets all munted up again. All gauges jump aroun speedo up to 200 50d knock/r etc etc.
Any tips?

On my VT test bench (which includes all modules) it connects and logs fine on the latest version of TP (build 7686) and the V1.02 ADX. Try using the flashtool to read the bin, can then confirm if everything is working ok.

The chatter issues in that thread are only related to the plugin, the ADX linked to supports disabling chatter and heartbeat searching so should be good to go. If you have used the OSE plugin then will need to change back to the default TunerPro data aquisition I/O interface for now.

Strangely enough after a few dozen retried connections, i have clean readings, and also the airbag n check/e lights are on, so i guess i have a full connection. Now its getting interesting.
I have an a/f ratio of 14.7 while just cruising, and at around 3500 rpm i have an a/f ratio of 12.8 @ 85% throttle. Im wondering if its gonna lean out or richen up with the last 15% and a few more rpms. At light throttle accelerating up from low revs, im getting occasional blip of 3degrees k/r, but none up higher revs and 85% throttle.
Opinions on this?. Its just out of interest, as this stock tune will be history soon i have tuner pro base tune in the mail. This car is cammed cooled untuned.
Ken.
