Hi Team,
I am intending to do a conversion on my beloved VF Valiant. My intentions are to use TBI and a Delco 808 computer from a TBI Camira.
Current Configuration:
318ci Mopar MID 70's barracuda motor
Mopar Electronic Dizzy
Crane Hi-6 Ignition Box and Matching coil
Edelbrock intake manifold
Holley / Motocraft 600 carb.
And mated to a TF904 tranny
My Ideas from trolling around this site and others:
Camira Delco 808
1000CFM throttle body (TBI) Holly base. 2 injectors on each side of the body.
Inch spacer between the throttle body and intake to increase the plenum volume. also a good point to mount the IAC valve as i already have the throttle body and it has no provision for an IAC.
4 injectors either LS1 or Magna injectors (as i heard these are the same type used on HSV's)
I currently have an autometer VSS installed as i am running a Speco Thomas digital speedo so i might just tape into it and change the VSS figure in the DELCO software
Camira GM/ ignition module connected with my crane Hi-6, locked advanced in my dizzy and let the delco control the curve.
From what i have read. I want to be running $12p VP V8 stock tune modified in accordance to the type of injectors i use flow rate and magic number. As per other posts on this site.
I have already picked up :
Camira Standalone TBI Loom and 808 Computer
All the sensors excluding the throttle position as my throttle body already has a GM / Delco one fitted.
i also picked up a max232 board to convert the data transfer rate of my early Delco 808 to the high transmission speed.
My plan is to start Data logging by early next month.
One of my final steps would be to get it tuned on a dyno. Can anyone reconmend a tuner that can do these $12P tunes in and around Melbourne eastern suburbs
Prefer someone close to Dandenong
Kind Regards
Nick

Re: Valiant 318ci conversion
If you are going to only use four injectors you will have to get injectors that have a flow rate of at least 50 - 60 lb /hr.
8 std 20 lb vn5.0lt injectors are only just big enough for a 304.Magna 775 blue tops are only 25 lb.

Re: Valiant 318ci conversion
After doing a little more research i realise that you are right i need to use a higher flow Injector.
What do you think of the 60lb Siemens Deka Injectors that suit XR6T/F6 Fords? are they any good?
Will i have any impedance miss match problems.

Re: Valiant 318ci conversion
well i have been running the 80lb version of those injectors in my methanol 202, i haven't had an issue with them at all, i reckon they will be perfect for what you need!
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!
Just starting out? Have a read of the getting started guide

Yeah ,as holden 202 said they are good quality injector and you would have no impedance problems with them.
They should suit your project nicely .
Would be interested to see a pic of how youve set them up on the throttle body with the fuel rail when youve finished.

On the weekend i will take some snaps and post up some pics. As well as an ignition schematic interface diagram for the ignition and crane module

Re: Valiant 318ci conversion
Are you able to post some picture mega keen.
Also how are you intending to get your vss (information)
I found that the Camira vss sensor is the correct thread for the TF707 and 904 gearbox's but it doesn't fit the shaft. I'm thinking about getting my shaft machined to match the vss.
I have tried running Both a autometer and vdo type sender but the problem is the gearbox x-member gets in the way. The other option is to run a cable. But i am going for the Modified OEM look.
