Tuning VS ute offline

Post by gmh265 »

Hey Guys,

I have the realtime setup for my weekender and i am all up to speed with how to operate that, and TP. My daily is a VS v8 auto ute, i would like to mess with the tune a little to see what i can get out of it, and take advantage of exhaust/cold air &tb upgrade.

now my questions;

Which is the best EEprom to purchase to replace the factory eprom?
Can I use a VN v8 memcal 'carrier' with the above eeprom in my vs?

thats the end of my extensive question list. :)

Thanks for any help

if it's series 3 then one of these https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopi ... =14&t=1273 otherwise Series 1 & 2 a knockboard style memcal with a v8 knock filter and 512k eprom.

Which EEprom is the one to use so I can erase it with my programmer instead of a UV eraser? the one in the photo you linked to?

eprom = uvrase
eeprom = electronic erase

Yeh the type in the photo is eeprom pretty easy to tell the ones with the windows are uv erase ones without are electronic erase.

You would need to use a 28pin eeprom, the later memcals use 32pin eeprom

Yeah I got the EE vs Eprom thing, sorry I mean't what eeprom chip to purchase, as in what part number but I think I have that worked out now, getting some SST brand, 27SF512 eeproms and I think I will have to offset the burn due to their size.

cheers

Yep thats the right chip. 27Cxxxx are eeprom, 29Cxxxxx are eprom. VS V8 Auto S1 & S2 are 64kb chips, and 512kbit = 64kbyte so there is no offset - 1 tune will fill the whole thing.

27C normally denotes eprom doesn't it? And the 29 series are all flash?

27c = uv erase
