Diesel Power Chips
Diesel Power Chips
I have a Turbo diesel RA Rodeo and would like to squeeze a bit more power out of it as it struggles a bit towing. I've been told by several sources that a 3" exhaust and a "performance chip" can get up to a 30% power increase! Has anyone here had anything to do with these http://www.dieselchips.com.au/or similar performance chips for late model diesel engines? Im curious to know how they work, It appears to me they're an over priced sensor bender.
Re: Diesel Power Chips
I wouldn't even look at one of those
units mate all they do is plug straight into
Common rail sensor tell the computer it hasn't
Got enough pressure and the pump loads up more
Increasing the rail pressure so all is going to do
Is load the system and increase fuel consumption

Re: Diesel Power Chips
I'm a bit sceptical of them myself, they claim to improve power and fuel ecconomy! I always understod you have to sacrifice one to get the other. I spoke to a diesel mechanic yesterday and he said that these motors are detuned to meet emmisions, and for around $200 they can remap the injector pump for optimum power (didn't say how much it effects the economy though). I'll get the exhaust done first then see if that helps.
Re: Diesel Power Chips
i work for isuzu as a heavy mech and i've seen these on a few of our trucks and they've cause havoc i know on light stuff like dmax's and rodeo's and that they don't have DPD
units but we had all sorts of problems from the amount of fuel just going unburnt through the engine and blocking them up and the loads they were putting on the injectors and the rails we had a few failed injectors that we could only put down to the rail pressures being to high. yea the computers are derated so there not putting out as much power like we have isuzu gigas running 455 hp then the same truck same model same engine computer just the flash top of the range one with a few extras as standard but it has 512hp so they can be remapped for more horsepower but these plugin units are a waste of time.
